Lord it had been a long time since I heard the very popular 1960's? frequently used word. Here's my question, was fink introduced to us by the mad genius who punlished Mad Magazine?

Hell no! Origin: 1900–05, Americanism ; compared with German Fink literally, finch, colloquial epithet for an undesirable person, especially an untidy or loose-living one (often in compounds, as Duckfink sycophant, Schmierfink untidy writer); but the transmission of this word to E and the range of meanings of the E word have not been clarified fully

I have a Ed "Big Daddy" Roth Rat Fink sitting on the shelf behind me. I've used the word fink since the '60s. It's cool.

Yup, that's what I remember with Roth and the car/hot rod magazines. A couple of years ago my mate and I were looking at semi-recumbant bikes for low stress peddling. One of the companies that makes them had a line of retro cruizers like schwinn used to make that they licensed the Rat Fink character from Roth or whoever holds the copyright. There used to be a realtor that shared the same building as my optometrist with Fink as her last name. Otherwise the only way I remember the word being used as someone who was either a snitch or a back stabber.

Truth be known, it should be Vink, starts with a V and Has some German in there like ozz, in German ink translates to ozz, your on to something here Herr Hoffman!

There's a little town named Fink, TX founded by Fred Fink. Just about the only things there are a motel and liquor store.

I was going to just say, Chewy, last time I heard "fink" was in either MAD magazine or really old "B.C." comics.

Fink is my sainted, late grandmother's maiden name. So I am, quite literally, 1/4 Fink.

A fink is one who crosses a picket line - a strike breaker. But, by extension is anyone who is a double crosser, one who rats to the authorities, betrays his fellows workers, or is generally untrustworthy. Cheers, John
