Fiorella’s Jack Stack - KC Fri, 01/5/07 8:46 AM (permalink)
Yesterday's Kansas City Star reviewed a new Fiorella’s Jack Stack which I didn't know had opened. It opened 2 months ago in the space that was occupied by the former KC Masterpiece on the Country Club Plaza.

Very positive review: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/living/food/16375554.htm

When I was checking for an online version to post here, I also ran across an article from last week about the business end of this family owned chain of BBQ restaurants that began in 1957: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/business/16317014.htm

The Jack Stack at Union Station is my new favorite BBQ place in Kansas City. I hope they don't close it to concentrate on the CC Plaza location. The one at Union Station is very convenient to the Westin and Hyatt at Crowne Center.

Their barbecue beans are far and away the best I have ever had.

If you mean the one in the Freight House near Union Station, I don't think there is much risk of that. They have had 3 locations for some time.

Personally, I think it too expensive and has service problems. The food is good, but there are many other local BBQ restaurants that have as good or better.

The family has a good catering arm. My company uses them several times a year.

Jack Stacks is great. No if and or buts about it. It is high end BBQ and that may turn you off. However BBQ does not have to be counter service only. The beans are the real deal. This is a legit dining experience. The crown beef ribs are unlike anything that you have ever put in your mouth. Jack Stack is great. Best BBQ ever? No but it is as good as any BBQ restaurant that you will find.

Jack Stacks was one of my favorite stops in Kansas City a few years back, that and Oklahoma Joe’s http://www.oklahomajoesbbq.com I have to head down that direction next summer and plan on staying a few nights in Kansas City to hit up those joints again.

I agree. For example: Hayward's Pit Bar-B-Que does a good job and the original KC Masterpiece does even better.
