We just got a new Firehouse Subs (franchise) here in town. I guess they exist primarily in the South. Any opinions on whether it's worth giving a try?

We just got one here in Fayetteville, AR too, and I had never heard of it before. Found the website: http://www.firehousesubs.com/kitchen/ Hmm. The meatball sub on the 'hot specialty subs' page looks great. Maybe a trip to the south side of town is in order today...

Just realized that I forgot to post back!! Anyhoo, I went to Firehouse the other day and got the hot roast beef sub. 1. The roast beef was rare, which is unusual where I live -- for some reason, Arkansans cook their roast beef till it's gray. 2. The bread was toasted. 3. The sandwich was steamed, till the provolone cheese melted. In other words, it was good!! Way, way, WAY better than Subway or Blimpie's or one of those other awful places. I'm going back this afternoon, will report back on the quality of the Italian sub...

Not this far south I don't believe. I've never heard of them. Would like to try one though!

Rib Dog, that's the one I'm talking about. How long has it been there? I need to get out more. Let me know how it is if you get over there to try it.

*Uurp* Yup, the hot Italian sub was good too. A little pricey -- it was $6 and some change for a small sub and large soda. But still, it was good, and I'll be back.

See you there. John

We have one here in the Southern Piedmont of North Carolina and I think they have some of the best subs that I have tasted. We like the New Yorker-it is Pastrami and Corned Beef (steamed) with melted provolone on a toasted sub roll. we got one in Cary a few months ago and everything we have tried has been pretty good. I prefer the club on a sub which is turkey, ham and bacon...... getting hungry thinking about it.
