When the first Roadfood was released in 1978, Esquire magazine published a review, which included several of the most exceptional roadfood establishements. I can rememeber the following: The Norske Nook -- Osseo, WI The Orange Inn -- Southern CA Arthur Bryant's -- Kansas City, MO Muellers Barbecue -- Waelder (maybe Taylor) TX Ma Groover's Pig & Plate -- South GA The Fairlee Diner -- New Hampshire Nunan's Lobster Hut -- Ogunquit, ME Anyone remember any more? I read the article while working on a shrimp ranch in Mexico that summer and drove back to New Haven via Seattle, making a special detour to Osseo for Norske Nook sour cream raisin pie. It was fabulous.
