Hi, can any recommend some decent fast food places in and around Salt Lake City? I'm curious to try chains that aren't in CA. Thanks, Todd

Todd, Welcome to Roadfood.Com. I am afraid that most of the Fast Food Chain operations you find in the Salt Lake area will be the same ones you are familiar with in CA.

A wonderful little Salt Lake City area chain is Hires Big H. It has been several years since I have been there, but they had really good burgers and shakes. I was particularly impressed by the fact that the owner, an elderly gentleman was still quite active, making sure everything was going right. As of last time I had heard, there were three Hires Big H in the SLC area. http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=325 http://hiresbigh.com/

Thanks for the feedback guys! Arctic Circle sounds awesome, since I'm a fry & shake person! Hires sounds good too. I'll have two full days, so I should be able to tackle both for lunches and then upgrade to a decent sitdown place for dinner. Thanks again!

Prior to 1982, and the intrusion of Mickey D's (which led to the downfall of the community, IMHO) to the small western nevada metropolis, which is about 30 miles from where we live, the only fast food in then area was an A&W Root Beer, a Dairy Queen, a Spud Nut, and an Artic Circle, which was the only real "fast food" joint for for another 60 miles. The Circle, fondly known as the "choke and puke" put out a pretty good product. That is where the kids always wanted to go when we came into town for supplies, then it was onto the DQ for ice cream, thenon to the Spud Nut for donuts for the week. When we go to Salt Lake we always stop at a "choke and puke" Hires Big H is also high on our list. You can't go wrong at either.
