And we wonder why schools dont want hot dog carts near by. This is setting the clean cut hot dog business guy back to the Carnie days. This is the kind of tee shirt I used to see on the Farris Wheel operator as he looked up the girls skirts. There are ways of doing things in good taste, this just isn't one of them................Bill

OMG as my younger son would say. Its a chick in a Bikini. Eating on a Big Slick dog and your comparing it to Carnies? I dont sell my shirts in my carts ,  And FYI schools do let hot dog carts sell there I have done 2 events there. I am not taking this personal guys but I really dont see the problem if one person can please tell me the problem with this design. Just one good error on my part. I dont car if you would wear it, I dont care if you would roll your eyes, I need constructive information here. Please

Big Slicks replies:
LOL my dad is 51 and I know what he wears, I would'nt expect you to understand he too is like rolling his eyes. But thanks

'nt

Given your age, I wouldn't expect YOU to understand.

Sir with all due respect. I am sorry if you took the wrong way. I wouldn't call my dad old he would kick my Butt. I was putting 2 posts into one. As I re-read the posts. I am sorry. Your right I don't know you. I was comparing Hooters and Skin Industries in the beginning when they first started. I am sure they got crap from other people as I am with your all here and my father. But I have to to go on my own direction. Again sir, I am really sorry. This might not be a smart move but its one I am taking to see what happens. this has gone to far. I have upset someone and that was not my intentions. So I am going to ask the mods to please lock this thread and I will remove the picture. Again sir please forgive.

respectfully

I agree with the tweak. Again, What teenage boy, if that's what you are going for, wants to wear a shirt in front of people that essentially says "I like C@(&." Come one. That's not being puritanical, that's being realistic. Raunchy tshirt is one thing...maybe "Girls like my Big Slick with mustard" or "Ladies take my Big Slick with relish" or whatever, but think of who would buy it and what they would not like the tshirt to say about them. It's about making money, right? Those are free, but if used I want free dogs for life.

That's no different then what I have on there on there now.

Really? You think so? You're not seeing the difference between wearing one or the other? Your's worn by a man says "Hi sailor, give me a try. I'm very experienced. Let me be your peg-boy."  And that is fine if you want to convey that message, but you should be able to see that it is blatantly there. I know in your dreams it's all women wearing the shirt, but again... know your audience. I don't care if people around me are wearing mud-flaps, but everything conveys a message and you are not seeing the message from your shirt.

I really dont understand what you think the message I am trting to get out. I am not supporting a porn company. Its a cartoon of a ladie in a bikini with a hot dog.  There is no nudity well you know what I mean. .......

Oh, please!!! It's clear that this shirt's double meaning is one of oral sex. That is a pornographic double-meaning. I can respect your right to make a choice like that, even if it is disgusting to me. But at least man-up, quit playing rationalization games to try and justify such a logo, and go ahead with the project if that's the way you want to go.

You didn't ask for our opinions, but posting here is an overt invitation to seek reaction to what is posted.. Have some respect and say "thank you" for the feedback instead of trying to argue why our opinions have no value simply because they disagree with how you filter your perceptions of what is acceptable and what isn't.. As I said, the art work is great, but the logo would embarass me and my family. And it's a good bet that it will limit the client base to those who find crass humour to be acceptable.

I'm just sayin'.

This back and forth reminds me of something I tried to teach my children when they were growing up.  I taught them the difference between having the right to do or say something and doing or saying what is right.

BS, as the owner of your business, you have the right to print shirts to promote your business, but is printing shirts that promote a bawdy image the right thing to do?

Sex sells. Right or wrong. It will push some people away and bring some in, but REALLY and this is so key...no intelligent, straight man (some of my closest friends are gay/ my father's gay/ etc)  would want a shirt that proclaims I ate a big weiner.  Doesn't matter how many women in bikinis you also put on the shirt. If the shirt says it, it implies the wearer has some connection. I heart new york.; Kiss me. I'm  Irish.; I  ate the weiner.  Think about it.

I'm really enjoying this thread.

Big Slick, don't you think that you are giving your two children the wrong message by printing these shirts?

I'd think about that versus making a few extra bucks.

I feel that if you go ahead and sell them, you are being very selfish by thinking of yourself over your family.

Mr Billydee.... Thanks for asking about the Children. I have tought my children that if they have a idea, dont be afraid to follow you thoughts unless it will end you up in jail. My boys are proud of there old man. Owning this Hot Dog business has been a dream of nime and I took alot of slack when i named the company Big Slicks Hot dogs. I mean if you think about it could be a sexual statment. My Boys now that the pops is trying 100% to provide for them. I do whatever it takes to put food on the table and support them threw college. And they also know that for every 1.00 Big Slicks Hot Dogs donates 1.00 to the PKD foundation. My boys are very proud of there old man. I push the envelope. The one thing I am glad that my boys didn't learn from me was my spelling. But thanks Billydee for asking about my boys.

DaveFL.... I dont know how to address your comments. You suggested a couple slogans that to me are the same. No matter what someone can always find something sexual in somekind of statement. I accually like those 2- statements about the mustard and relish. Do you mind me using them? Girls like my Big Slick with mustard" or "Ladies take my Big Slick with relish" thanks

jman... You are correct I am the owner of the Business. #1 I wont sell the dogs at the carts unless I am at the bar or the lake.
I am not going to forse these shirts on your back. You want buy it if not eat your dog and see you later. Thanks for you comments.

Davebug..... My best frined gave me a shirt awhile back ago it says this...

4:21   It took me a minute to find my BONG.

its in Big red letters. Now if you saw me walking into walmart of even a grocery stores, what would you think? That i am a stoner?
The 4:20 has a meaning, I dont want to go and explain it but here is a post.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/20/what-420-means-the-true-s_n_188320.html

But I have it becouse my last name is Bong. Do yo think I care what message it brings no its  not my everyday shirt. I only sell the shirts at Clubs and online. About 4-5 months ago I had a contest. Help make Big Slicks Slogan contest. And I had a little drop box with a piece of paper and I gave them the option of making up a slogan. And I will tell you this I had about a hand full about this weiner slogan. it sells it funny. Do I expect you to understand am I tring to change yor mind. No I dont care I just wanted to show you all. If you dont want one dont buy it. I will not lose sleep.

Thank you DAVEBUG for your comments.

Any chance that you are kin somehow to Dick Bong, America's top ace fighter pilot in WW 2? You are the second person I have ever heard of with that name with Dick being the other.

I would not wear the shirt either but to each his own. Good luck.

Again, you keep rationalizing why the decal should be just fine, by arguing that other crass material exists. I don't buy it. Your argument that "other crass stuff exists so mine is ok" is an example of someone using the bad behavior or judgement of others to justify their bad behavior or judgement. You will never win me over with that kind of argument. In my view, there is no reason to contribute to the downward coarsening of our culture just because others do it.

Holy smoke guys, it's a T-SHIRT. I know it's a very in-your-face t-shirt and I know a lot of us seem to be deeply conservative folk but in this world are worse things. Look at it as just marketing.

If BigSlicks marketed primarily to church groups, I'd say he has a branding identity problem. That aside, this type of stuff has a segment of the market. Especially in Arizona. There are whole different standards for what "well dressed" means and what's socially acceptable. This kind of punchy youth-art is very much in style out here so I know BigSlicks is onto something.

Put 50 us us at any local fair. If BigSlicks has his frontage covered with cartoon vixens and he has heavy metal blaring, all else being equal, he's getting the business. And there's something else a lot of us don't understand. I sure don't. But this "viral marketing" thing. These young people will make their own market AROUND you from what I'm reading.

I didn't say 'change' the culture, I said that your actions help coarsen it. Whether you are conciously doing it is not the issue. Laughing simply underscores my point: your threshold of what is decent or not has obviously been affected to the negative.

Do you actually read the full posts?  I never said your suggestion was sexual and mine wasn't. I said yours was akin to "coming out of the closet" if you wore it. I really, really want to stop saying that. I truly can not believe this keeps going over your head, so stop messing with me.  Again, I feel you should be able to be legally married if you want to, but it really is a state by state decision.

Just to be clear, I wasn't asking about your kids. I was actually wondering how they felt about the tee shirt and the message it portrays and most importantly, the message you are giving them.

I think you read my post but didn't comprehend what I was saying.

Your mind is made up and I don't think anything is going to change it so good luck.

Keep your costs to a 'bare' minimum so you don't go 'bust'.

I'm pretty sure if you are legally married you don't get to eat as many hot dogs. If you are just dating you can pretty much go wild. Works the same with motorcycles. I'm pretty sure it's the same in every state.

Slick, What part of the constructive criticism are you taking in. you argue with anyone who disagrees with your Porn tee shirt. I think we should all act stupid and just think the girl in the bakini really likes large hot dogs. Are there anyother porn shirts you want us to lie about to make you feel better..........................Bill

So it seems that you are unable to see that the slogan is distasteful. Just curious, what kind of slogan WOULD you find distasteful?

Thank you, davebugg and BillyB, for saying what I was thinking ( and saying it better than I ever could. ) Believe it or not, BigSlicks, there are still people in this country who care about such things as morals and decency, and, unfortunately, you just don't seem to get it. Remember the old saying "two wrongs don't make a right"? Just because other businesses cross the lines of good taste in their advertising doesn't mean that you should. All you're doing with that T-shirt is making your own little contribution to the downgrading of morality in this country. I know that I'm not going to change your mind about this, but I feel that it needed to be said.

I served in the United States Navy, I was a Corpsman , I did three tours in Iraq and Afganistan. I have 1 purple heart and you talk about downgrading the morals of this country? From my shirts? Do you think a person who lost there job and cant pay there bills is going to give a ratts butt about my shirts? Come on if you don't like it don't comment, but don't tell me I am screwing with the morals of this fine nation. Yeah i know the saying "Two Wrongs" I live by that rule.

To all who dont like it dont comment. I have figured out that I just dont get it. There is #1 No nudity #2 no cuss words # 3 if someone buys a shirt there going to know its from a Hot dog guy and thats my company name so they should figure it out. So the "I just ate a huge Weiner "Hot Dog" for Big Slicks<------ my company name. I quess in Arizona we are just diffrent. I quess we have no marols. Maybe I should go outside and Burn a flag. You're entitled to think that my post was "stupid", just as I'm entitled to feel the same way about yours ( and believe me, I do. ) Your "everyone else is doing it" reasoning just doesn't fly with me. Wrong is wrong; it's that simple.

I was a Dustoff flight medic in the Army with two tours in Vietnam, and assorted other excusions. I also have a son who will graduate from college next week and who will be commissioned as a 2nd LT in the Army. He will be leaving for Ranger school shortly thereafter. You don't have the high ground with military service as to be able to dictate whether or not someone gets to post with ANY kind of comment...positive OR negative. As to whether military service is an arbiter of good judgement or moral sense, it really is absurd to use military service as some kind of shield. Of course those in and out of the military make bad decisions of all kinds. Thank goodness the majority don't follow that path.

While your shirt has #1. no nudity, #2. no cuss words, or whatever the heck is meant by #3, it also has #4, a clear double meaning that the female is talking about doing a BJ. I hope you're not even going to pretend that that isn't pretty clear.

So, yes, your shirts do contribute to a worsening of the moral climate. You may argue that it is all relative, to which I would argue that it all adds up. If the shirt is so harmless and just innocent fun, then how about letting your kids wear one to school?

BTW, regardless of anything else, from one combat medic to another, I thank you for your service and wish you the best for your business.

"I just ate a huge wiener" is amazingly funny.

If you haven't hocked the house to stock up on t-shirts yet, definitely do so immediately. "I just ate a huge wiener" T-shirts will sell like hot cakes.

Good luck.

You know, I was thinking about a new recipe, the Osama Been Doggin. It was supposed to be one of our all-beef Hoffy franks served with lentils, shredded radishes and cucumber raita and served on a fresh Khandahari nan, and we had this logo all done up that said in Pashtu and Arabic "American beef, you can't get enough".

Our logo also featured a female, a kind of Arabian interpretation of Betty Page. Just like you used to see in classic American calendar art. Just like all the pictures you saw in magazines growing up. Just like the women's underwear section in the Sears catalog that no proper American boy ever, ever, once looked at. For such things are unthinkable. But the artist we got drew those perfect pinup gal legs. And the effect is unmistakable. You just want to say "great gams" and "hubba-hubba!" and "hi doll-face".

I dunno, I thought it would just be a neat regional flavor to introduce. I picked it up in travels and decided to maybe Americanize it. But after this thread, I'm thinking America might just not be ready to have sex sell consumer products. And if you think Americans get offended, you should see what happened to my first cart in Islamabad.
