I /We have been fighting this battle for many years. You are correct about Basa being a catfish. Unfortunately for many folks it is sold as everything from flounder to grouper in restaurants. Most states do not have truth in menu laws, thus no law is broken when this happens. The problem is very deep in the seafood industry, and it ranges from canned crabmeat to swordfish. I could fill 100 pages with the things I know happen on a daily basis. I am a commercial fisherman / wholesaler and I am involved in the Sustainable seafood Initiative. I am also friends with over 50 executive Chefs from Wilmington NC to Savannah Ga.
