Fish sandwiches.......??

How do Hardees and Wendys fish sandwiches compare to Burger Kings? IMO, Burger Kings are far superior to McDonalds by sheer size and overall taste! Let me hear your opinions!!! Lindsey

I suspect the scale should be based upon nauseousness after eating. My opinion is that, when I first had any of them, I swore each of them off. Best Fish sandwich: JOHN O'GROATS on PICO in LOS ANGELES. (Not fast food)

Lindsey, I always thought Hardee's had a decent fish sandwich; I preferred it over the Filet-O-Fish and it was often my choice for a quick lunch on Lenten Fridays. I can't remember if it normally came with tartar sauce or without as I always ordered it without. IIRC the BK sandwich is "The Whaler" (or at least it was) but I don't think I've ever had one. However, now the Hardee's is gone (replaced by Popeyes) and there's a Culver's not much farther away. They do a very good lunch business anyway, but on Fridays this time of year they get really busy. Yesterday I ordered a tuna burger at a St Pete joint called "Fish Gone Wild". It was beyond awful - it was barely edible. That's my one and only experience with such an item - I warn all of you to avoid both the joint and the sandwich wherever it may be found. Cheers, John

The new Wendy's fish sandwich, "hand cut north Pacific cod" looks good on TV. My wife and I plan to try it. We also plan to try a Worcester, Mass Fish n Chips place that was written up in the local paper. They have been in biz for years and are only open Fridays. I wonder which we will like better????

Brad BK stopped calling its fish sandwich the Whaler in the early 80s. I think some people were offended by the name. (The Whaler and the Yumbo were my favorite BK sandwichs as a kid)

I tried the Wendy's new fish sandwich today....very good for a fast food fish sandwich. It was smaller than one would think from the pictues, though...about the size of a McD's filet of fish.

As a kid the only time I would eat the filet o fish was when mom would take me to Mcdonalds on Good Friday. I now eat red meat on Good Friday, so I'm not going to McDonalds. Mom is not happy with me. She and Dad, two Lutherans who never go to church, still have filet o fish on every Good Friday.

Last night I had the new Wendy's premium fish sando with fries. I knew the vibes were right when a rotund, foreign-looking woman handed me the bag. She had Native American look....like straight from Alaska! Maybe they are hiring people from way up North where this fish is being caught, not only to do the fish catching but to work the drive-throughs. I was immediately disappointed when seeing how small it was but reading about the size in here helped cushion the initial shock. I took the lettuce off because lettuce has no business on there. Tomato maybe, but no lettuce. No cheese either, and I detected hardly any tartar so I put a little Miracle Whip on mine to compensate. I mixed some Heniz ketchup with jalapeno ketchup for dipping and I had to have LOTS of it ....since I was dipping the fries and the sando in there. All it takes is one bite and you know that this is not some processed, fake imitation fish. The flaky goodness leaves no doubt that this is indeed premium, quality North Pacific white fresh cod, speared by experienced, windburned fisherman. The bun is small but adequete. I don't understand the earlier post about how it was greasy. It's got batter, but this is not greasy. It has a rich, all-white cod texture just captured from an icy ocean. I thoroughly enjoyed dipping it in the jap ketchup mix, too. I am about to eat a Frosty to chase it with..... My only problem with this is that without fries it's not quite feeling enough. I can only assume this based on the feeling I have right now with fries and a sando, which is just full enough. I recommend this sando to anyone.

Culver's makes a pretty good Walleye Sandwich. Up north they have it on the menu all year long, but down here in the "South" it is a winter-special! We have enjoyed them a couple of times this season.

A couple of years ago I stopped at a nearby Frisch's and got one of their fish sandwiches. My first bite resulted in two bones stuck in the roof of my mouth. I haven't been back.

I just had the Arby's fish sandwhich with cajun sauce. It wasn't so great. I the fish to have a little firmness to it, and most FF fish is way too soft.

Joe Church's and Popeyes have the same corporate parent, I believe, but we don't have Church's up here and our Popeyes' menu sometimes isn't as varied as the ones in their more established territories. The shrimp is usually available but I don't recall seeing the catfish meal. I wonder if maybe the Church's filets come bunless like the Popeyes catfish. Brad

I used to like the McD's fish sandwich a long time ago, but I had one recently and it kinda sucked. did they chage the product over the years, like they did with the FF oil?

I tried the Wendy's fish sandwich last night. It was nice and flaky with a nice mild fish taste. The breading had a nice crunch to it, but I suspect that was as much about it being fresh out of the deep fryer rather than sitting a while in the warming drawer. I'll certainly stop for another and will continue eating it unless the quality takes a dip. BTW, it is smaller than it appears on TV, but as my wife said, "that won't hurt me!"

Boy, Wendy's is really pushing their fish sandwich right now. The ad with Wendy with her fishing pole is on all the time. At least it's cod. McDonalds hasn't used cod in years, and refuse to go there - plus, that stupid 1/2 slice of cheese. What a rip. I might try Wendy's fish sandwich, but it's tough, because it would be a friday thing and there's no Wendy's near me at all. I only see them in the 'burbs, which I only venture to on Sundays.

I hate to admit it but was on road with small grandchild and busy running errands so had no time to stop at a restaurant. Wendy's was right there and so I ended up with their fish sandwich and would have it again in a heartbeat. It was real fish, tasty and nice and hot. I enjoyed it and will return................for 3.49, it was well worth it.

It was fresh from the FF warming bin. I was not impressed at all. Wendys is grasping for it's final breath. They have lost all quality IMO. The original focus on quality at this chain has been lost for some years now.
