So, you have never been to either place. I consider you lucky. What I do not understand is why you are even commenting on any of the posts here........

Just read that the first Five Guys in the St. Louis area is soon to open at Clayton & Clarkson Roads in Ellisville. Looking forward to seeing if it lives up to the hype.

So, what you're saying is that if a place announces in advance that it will always cook any food you might wish to eat so that you won't eat it that's a good reason to eat there before saying that you won't eat where they cook things exactly the way you hate?

I get it.

I'd heard raves about Steak & Shake, so when they first opened here I took my grandson for a trial run. After that visit I did go back several times, including the next time when I again tried one of their "Steakburgers," thinking the first time must have been an off night. It was just as bad, and as with the first visit, and they didn't say anything when I ordered to let me know that they cook all their burgers to death regardless of how you order them done. The other visits were because my grandson liked the place. All I ever had there was coffee.

I went to one Applebees a few years ago -- again with my grandson -- and both the service and the food were atrocious. I should have remembered my wife's assessment of Applebees from her first visit with people from work about 12 years ago. She said it was absolutely terrible back then.

an applebees, located near my hotel in Knoxville, was the only place within walking distance I could get food and drink (alcohol) and watch college football a few Satrudays back. Every TV was showing the Tennessee Vols playing (at home no less) - I asked if one TV could show the Penn State game (as I was decked out in my PSU clothes). The bartender didn't think it was possible, the manager didn't know if he should, but they allowed it. I got to watch my game, have my drink, eat some lousy wings, and have a good time bellying up to the bar with fellow marching band judges watching PSU beat Ohio State. The Vols were not so lucky that week. The bartender was quite accomodating for our little group, as they also put on the World Series with the Phillies playing, since my fellow adjudicator was a Philly fan. We were the only people there NOT watching the Vols - and the place was packed (alcohol tastes the same no matter where you go).

Several years ago (mid 1990's) I was spending my days - er um, evenings, as a poor, but working, stage actor in Upstate, NY. Applebees 1/2 price appetizers was standard post show fare. The bartenders and servers knew us well. We were treated great every week. The food was mediocre - but cheap - which was important for lowly paid actors.

So, in my experience, Applebees has always been a friendly place, even though the food leaves something to be desired. Then again, I pretty much always sat in the bar section post-dinner time - so, maybe my experiences are not the norm.

yes, I realize my last post has nothing to do with Five Guys. " />
I'd say we should start a new thread, but I think the Applebees thing has been done to death as well.

I agree.

I've never eaten Sushi. And I never will.

I freely admit that the reason is that I "don't like the idea" of eating raw fish. When someone points out that some of it is cooked, I'll still "pass". When most of my friends just rave about the stuff, I say "include me out".

But I certainly don't waste my time or that of others posting in sushi threads ranting incessantly about my peculiarities and prejudices.

BTW: I don't like lamb either ...

Thats the way they cook their food. It is all prepacked and they just heat it up. I worked at one for about 3 weeks...
I wont even eat at one anymore.

Do we have to keep on looking (check picture above) at Five Guy Grill cooks beating the hamburgers to death?

By the way, Paul, I think we are just having fun now! The rants and raves are over.

Nobody has ever been criticized for disagreement however going way off topic will cause you to get an email. Those affected would be wise to keep it to themself. Bringing it onto this forum will cause further difficulty.
