Sorry TJ I thought you were asking if Rosco's was a chain. Yea I guess this should be on the chain page..didn't know they had one, I usually only look at the dog page. I'm surprised it hasn't been moved (or removed like some of my posts for some reason).

I have not been to Five Guys but the woman I work with says it is great. Her husband is hooked on the place... they go to the one in Avon next to Walmart.

Five Guys moved into Georgetown in DC. They took over the building where Au Pied de Cochon used to be.

I won't miss Au Pied de Cochon, since it was basically a roach farm after its three or four decade run. Not to mention the service was lousy, the food was lousy, and they actually once served me cheesecake with mold!

But, Au Pied De Cochon also had it fans. Mostly late night bar hoppers and bohemians. And for those Au Pied fans, an Au Pied Bistro opened up on the eastern end of M Street, before it goes over Rock Creek. Although it's different owners, the staff is much the same...as is the crappy service and bland "french" food...but then, the joy of Au Pied Bistro is the same as Au Pied de Cochon...it's open well after the bars close and they still turn out omlettes and fries at any time of the day. Which taste much better from the new and clean kitchen.

I didn't go into the Five Guys, but the outside has that chic/historical Georgetown look, the inside (from the street) looked clean...which must have took A LOT of work following the old Au Pied de Cochon. Now, I'm not sure if it's the tinted windows or not (I passsed by it at about 20 MPH on my scooter), but the inside brightness seems a bit more subdued than the bright florescent lighting of other Five Guys. Which would be a good choice given it's location in Georgetown. On the other hand, that could be just the window tint.

Their menu says they use a "100% Kosher Hot Dog." Anyone have any idea which dog they use? How many to a lb.? Style of preparation? Opinions?

They use a split and grilled Hebrew National dog. I believe it is the 4 to a lb dinner frank.
