Does anyone operate in Florida? Part of my business plan is to (hopefully) set up at the beach on the weekends and sell to families and such who are out for the day. I'm assuming that I'll have to get permission and/or permits to do so, but from whom? Anybody here know anything about vending at the beach in Florida?

When we lived in Florida we checked in to it. Really depends on where you want to set up at. Each county has different ordinances concerning vending. For an example Daytona Beach only issues a certain number of vendor spots, you just about have to purchase an existing business to set up on the beach. Some beaches do not allow any vending with the exception of beach umbrellas and chairs such as Coco Beach (We lived in Orlando). Roadside vending rules are about the same as else where; approved trailer / cart, permit fees, inspections, business license, base of operation, set hours, etc.

About the only cool thing about Florida is that some areas do allow shared commissaries. Florida has a lot of ocean frontage and if you spent enough time you can probably find a good friendly location. Just don’t expect to find a spot at the more popular areas.

Unfortunately you not going to haul you rig down to Florida to make it a working vacation unless you plan on doing the festivals and events. Florida is a Mecca of festivals and events. We are looking into expanding our season by doing some North Florida festivals late fall and early spring.
