Flo's famous hot dog relish now for sale!!!! Mon, 12/27/04 1:55 PM (permalink)
Heather and I stopped for hot dogs at Flo's in Cape Neddick,ME on Sunday heading south, as the snowstorm headed northward.
Gail Stacy was on hand serving the dogs (she is down to 4 days a week now, her daughter works the counter the other days), and behind her on the shelf was the product of 45 years of family labor in the hot dog business...the Flo's famous hot dog relish in a jar.
Each jar is 9.6oz. and $7.95. (about a 3 inch high jar)
Manufactured in Maine by Pemberton's Gourmet Foods of Gray,ME.
Each jar is date coded, listing at least a year of shelf life...mine is dated "enjoy by 12/22/06", and recommends refrigeration after opening.
Label art is the watercolor portrait of Flo's done by "Diner Don" Sawyer. The print will probably be available through Don Sawyer at www.dinerdon.com.
The relish is being distributed by Flo's All Purpose Sauce,LLC of Cape Neddick,ME.
So far other than Flo's itself, the easiest places to purchase the sauce are the Kittery Trading Post, Kittery,ME and The Daisy Garden in York,ME.
From Gail's descriptions, at least 40 cases have already been sold, but no website or telephone orders yet, and more sales channels are in negotiation.

Santa was very good to me this year..this was an unexpected gift.

This 'kinda reminded me of the hot and/or mild chow-chow for sale in abundance down here where I live, as well as the Vidalia onion relish. All are GA made products, available locally, and are not mass produced. The price tag for the relish seems a tad high, BTW...
