Food / Drink Photography for your restaurant?

I am wondering how many of you have invested in having your food / restaurant photographed by a professional?  I am a little unsure about it.

How much did it cost?  Were you happy with the results?  Anything I should know?

Depends what you're going to use the pictures for.
Tell us more about what you're thinking to do with them.

Thanks for the reply, I'd be using them for a website, facebook / twitter, and maybe in the local newspaper.

I got mine almost free. Went down to my local college and posted up an ad to feed any students who needs food pics for their portfolio.  Only money spent was for the food.

I barter with my Web Master, free pics, menu design, redesign, many other things, free except food cost. Bartered for Blacktopping my parking lot.

Both interesting ideas.  If it's ok, I would love to see a link to restaurants website/photos.  I have some friends that did the same thing here and frankly the results were not great.  Thanks again!

It depends on you how many photographs you get clicked, the experience the photographer hold and the result of this is obviously good. For exact details match please expand the details.

    Maria,
I am looking for maybe 15 photos, 10 or so of plated dishes/deserts, and another 5 that I would like to be creative interior shots (bar, kitchen, etc.).  I don't really care about the experience, but I would like the photos to be of excellent, magazine type quality.  I have looked a little bit online, but the prices that I find seem really high, which is why I was wondering.  I think the photos are important, but still don't want to pay more than the going rate.  Hope that helps.

    Thanks!
