This is in our Los Angeles area, I guess on a busy lunch street. The trucks have been going there for a while, parking infront of established restaurants. Doing this is causing them to loose money (the restaurants). So the building owner(s) or whoever, Museum Square, got junker cars, and they park them on the street and pay the meters on them to block the trucks from coming.

You know, I can see the view of the restaurant owners being upset that trucks are taking their lunch business. That is what a lot of businesses bank on. This kind of thing is extreme though. Putting drivers safety in the area at risk as well. Jut the average person or sight see'r wanting to visit, having to deal with this crap.

I am on the brink of getting my own truck, but I surely don't want to be labled as a problematic business owner because there are some in the game causing problems for other businesses.

Load google earth, view southern california. There are lots of places to goto to get lunch business. To make this kind of headache for others is not cool at all, and not what the "grourmet" food truck business should be about. I hope when I get into this game, I don't deal with this bs while out on the road.

As a consumer, I find it incredibly bad form for someone in a food truck to park it in front of an existing restaurant for the express purpose of stealing their customers.

Not that I think this is a good answer, but I totally get it.

This is going to get interesting soon with national chains going mobile in test markets. It's one thing for the police muscle an independent owner/operator. Once the chains start getting active in this arena, it's going to be no time b4 municipalities are going to be facing a major pushback. Times are changing. Like the internet has challenged brick and mortars, so will the mobile food industry.
