cape cod johnny you can have the best set up in the world and still do nothing at all. How much you make is simply equal to what you put into it. This is not a get rich quick business, it will require lots of time and effort to get established. Quality food (the best you can do, if you wouldnt really eat it chances are nobody else would) A GREAT attitude CLEANLINESS CLEANLINESS CLEANLINESS A ton of effort on your part a good appearance (no scribbled cardboard signs or taped on crap) having a trailer is a big advantage for you, opens up a whole extra world for you. Set it up right and be patient. spud

I just think it's funny that cape cod johnny thinks that there is a specific answer to what a food vendor makes in a day... or I guess I should say on a "good day".

dont know why people wont answer cape cod with some estimates...im new so i cant tell u from my own personal experience, but there are a few on here who have said that htey are making 4-500 a day, and that is considered really good..... some of the people who have been working around my area say they are making about 2-400 gross a day...so that should give u some parameters....

The bottom line is nothing in food service is guaranteed. Eventually you can get it to be predictable but still have to work at it. You have to MAKE IT yourself. The best equipment/set up can still make you nothing if location is bad, food is nothing special and or your service is lousy. Some can go out with barely legal rattle traps and clean up! There is no magic formula.

No secrets, just impossible to tell. Size of your equipment doesn't matter or how bright and shinney it is. I knew a guy with a table top hot dog steamer that went thru 20lbs. of barkers on any given saturday. His gross was over 200 bucks plus tips. Take a vendor like CSD, small operation and I'm sure he is or was doing way above the numbers being thrown around here. I belive he's semi retired now. I have a guy in my area cooking on a BGE, www.fredsfranks.com I'll bet dollars to donuts he's doing a G note or close to that a day, with limited hours no less. The answer to your question just has too many vairables to be able to tell. Chow Jim

We had a hotdog guy that went around our little town, and did private events. He eventually shut down, saying it was just not cost effective. I was so saddened. I've often wondered what you would really make a day, doing that kind of work.
