Are there any foods you think you should like, but don't for some reason? I just made beef stroganoff, I made it well, tasted like it should...but I guess I've decided I just don't like it for some reason. I mean whats not to like? Anyone else have foods like that?

I had even taken pics as I was going to do a write up, but after eating it I was just sort of blahh, what ever.

Can you turn it around to foods I love but wish I didn't? I love meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, but I can't stop eating it before I've eaten too much, which is why I can barely move right now following my dinner of meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy.

Two items: Salad and buttered bread/toast. Every adult and most kids I know just love those things, but I've never been able to stomach them.

I feel so........ different. *sniff*

This one's easy.....okra.

Having lived in the south all my life, I practically grew up on the stuff. Then one night my parents, brother, and I were at a Grandy's (an old fried chicken place for those that didn't know) and I had a side of okra. For some odd reason, my spidey sense told me that I didn't like it anymore. That was about 18 years ago, and I haven't eaten okra since. I know...I'm a dork.

I do both. I have a thing about tree nuts and shrimp. Everyone I know can't fathom it, but I just can't eat them.

I also like anchovies on pizza, and, while I'm not alone, is pretty rare. I often wonder why pizza places offer anchovies, since so few of us eat them, but I love 'em.

Space, you are a dork! Joshing you a bit. Okra is a beautiful thing!!! YO Mammy taught you better, don't be lettin her down!!!!!
I eat just about anything prepared with care and love. A little gravy makes about anything taste good.
My "fessing up" is I really don't care for Avocados. That Guacomole thing just doesn't excite me. In social settings I'll do a couple chip dips of it, smile and try to look appreciative.
Edge, your Stroganoff looks delicious! Think you might be able to fill an ole pie pan full and drive it to me down here in southern New Mexico? I'll put you up for the night, even a week or so if you're willing to do a little fence work.

Roux,

I just do not know. I will eat pretty much anything, ie. chitterlings, sea urchin, head cheese; I love sweetbreads and liver. I make sure that my pizza has anchovies. But chocolate, no thanks. I do not know what that says about me except that there is more for everyone else.

BTW, I do like Oreos but that's not really chocolate. And Roux, maple syrup is as good as sex. As a matter of fact...never mind.

Everyone thought that I was on crack when I said I've never liked chocolate cake, brownies or chocolate ice cream! There is some kind of aftertaste I just really don't like about them.

I also can't stand donuts! I think they taste like rancid fat.

I also despise V8 juice- I wanna like it- try every new flavor that comes out hoping that "this will be one I like." I can't even choke the stuff down and no amount of vodka could even help.

I want to like chicken livers. My smeller says they smell good, my mouth even waters, yet when placed in front of me I just can't eat them.

I don't like home-made ice cream. Go figure. And everybody says "Oh, you haven't tried mine". I haven't found one yet that I like. Give me vanilla out of the carton any day, but not that home-made stuff.

Don't care for chocolate, unless it has nuts with it. Plain M&M, chocolate ice cream, chocolate milk......nope. But a Hersey bar with almonds....that's a different story.

I'm not a coffee drinker. Just don't care for it. Co-workers have flavored stuff that smells divine. But it sure doesn't taste like it smells.

Then there are things that are just 'meh' to me ( couldn't care less if I ever ate them again..but I don't dislike them):

ice cream
popcorn

pie
donuts
chicken thighs

Goat cheese. It tastes like what I'd imagine licking a basement floor would taste like.

Liver anything. A friend made a huge French dinner for us a couple weeks ago, and had what I'm told was very good pate, but it justed tasted bad to me.

Asparagus and zucchini. They just taste bitter and rotten to me.

Tomatos. I know most of the World loves them, but they don't taste like anything to me and have a slimy consistency. Cooked, they're fine, and in my adulthood I've learned not to wretch if they show up on a sandwich or burger. Luckily my Wife hates them more than I do.

Broccoli. Hated it as a kid, ate too much of it in college, now it's on my "two bites every five years" list. Unfortunately, my Wife does like broccoli, but she eats it outside of the house.

Jim - you reminded me of Swiss Cheese, it's been so long I almost forgot it exists. Nasty, plastic-y, gassy stuff.

Delicious Apples. I love Macs and all their relatives, Granny Smiths, any apple other than a delicious, red or golden. To me they have a nasty, gassy flavor that tastes like a cow smells.

I'm not fond of Chicken Parm, either, but I guess for different reasons. I love a good restaurant marinara sauce, cheese, pasta or roll. But to me the chicken is a cheap stand-in for veal, and is frequently dried out. I don't hate it, it just seems to be not up to what I expect.

I can’t stand bananas. The thought of those mushy things just grosses me out. And what fruit ever doesn’t have juice? They are a dried-up excuse for any fruit.

Maybe it’s just the consistency, I don’t know. Never the less, they are nasty.

I have never cared much for salmon or tuna steaks, and it seems everyone raves about them. I'll eat all seafood though with the exception of the dreaded anchovies. Chicken is a "blah" but I'll eat it meat --- much prefer red meat or turkey. Liver is a no no, as are tongue, brains, and chitterlings.

Re veggies I'll pass on the brussel sprouts but enjoy most other veggies.

I've never had a big sweet tooth, but enjoy most sweets except for malted milk balls.

I'm not much of a picky eater and much of that probably has to do with mom being a "this is what we're having for dinner" type, which I now appreciate.

Over the years my dislikes have faded...mostly. I don't do Blue Cheese in any form, chunky--dressing--hidden in a salad. Take it away, please.

I have yet to have any squid that I could say I enjoy. It reminds me of chewing pieces of tires. I am told that it is possible to prepare it so it is not 'chewy', but I have never experienced that form.

I am not fond of fruit-jell filled chocolates. Always included in the general assortment of many candy boxes, they will remain in the box if I can identify them from the 'map' supplied. Or with a nibble off one corner if they are not labeled!

I like Red but not Black Licorce. But I do like Good & Plenty's, Go Figure!

I should like most diet sodas, but I don't.

Frozen Lemonade Concentrate makes a great mixer for Kentucky's finest Bourbons. Give me a 12oz can of concentrate and 8oz of good bourbon, over ice, and I will be a happy camper for a considerable length of time. I don't drink Gin in any form, no matter what you try and hide it in!

Well, I must say I have not seen anyone mention "tongue." I remember growing up my mom and dad loved the stuff, still do I think. Just looking one in the package is strange enough, wondering where it had been and all. Yuck!!!

That's probably the weirdest thing I don't like. A few others include any soft fruit. I know it sounds wierd, but I'd rather eat a green banana or a rock-hard peach. I hate them when they turn soft. There's also oatmeal, cream of Wheat, and pudding. I could pretty much do without Spam too.

I must say though...got to have the anchovies and chocolate, thought maybe not at the same time!!! And lots and lots of garlic!!!

My mom is German and grew up in Nazi Germany during WWII and there wasn't much to eat and there was a German soldier quartered in the house who ate first, so I'll say that has a lot to do with it! I don't like to waste anything either and the hubs and I are bargain hunters supreme! Mom's a good cook though and didn't really make anything I hated and she wasn't the "you clean your plate" type so it wasn't bad --- but there was certainly no special dinner cooked for me if I didn't want what she was making. She didn't make me eat the brussel sprouts or the liver though!
