Dearfolk, I've been wondering what was going on. Although I've been mighty busy of late, every time I've come by to post, I've been unable to do so... this has been going on for several days and through something like 17 attempts.. Well, today -- so far, so good. Now if I could only remember what I wanted to post about in the first place.... Absently-With-Leave, Ort. Carlton in Warmer-Than-Yesterday Athens, Georgia.

Have to re-enter my username and password everytime I return to the site to post... Was going to make some tech comments, but keep getting booted... ARGHH There has been a problem! I think I have been kicked back to 2002 when I was still on dial up.. Site is still running very slow, or my $1300 laptop that is 5 months old and my broadband/cable connection is crapping out...

But the site has been tons faster then 3 days ago when crawl was an overstatement.. dont toss that overpriced laptop out yet, it should keep up with the 500 dollar model within a day or two! :)

Could be wrong here, but thats why I suggested Defrag (to reorganize the databases)... Was just one mans opinion here...

Consider my situation.... I am still on dial-up with the best speed I ever see in the 45,000 kbs range. It makes policing the boards an exercise in futility. But what the hell, beats watching the Soaps everyday!

Chow Jim I have cable/broadband for 3 years now. Wouldnt think of using dial up... It just seemed like I was on dial up waiting for the page to load. But it seems this site is fixed now..

Could be wrong here, but thats why I suggested Defrag (to reorganize the databases)... Was just one mans opinion here... An SQL syntax error is returned when the SQL query is parsed by the database engine. This is before any attempt is made to retreive any data from the database, so this error is not seek time related. Now the slow file loading if being seen by everyone would be an issue with seek time. If the database itself is fragmented, a disk defrag will not help that much since defragging the file the database uses does not defrag the data held in that file. That requires a database compress. And while we're in a mood to perform preventive maintenance, lets do some table re-indexing as well. Guess who was a DBA in a former life. You're Hired... Free Fries on break there...

Nope. But I left keyword blank as I wanted all posts by wallyum. That's most likely the problem, maybe it constructs the SQL with the parenthesis that would go with the AND for the keyword, even tho it doesn't need one. I was an ASP developer in a previous life. A pretty good debugger if not the best 'splainer.

I don't know if this is on topic or not. When I want to read all the posts by someone, I go to their profile. There is a line there where you can access most of their posts by specific forums. Please correct if this is not a good way.

Yes, that would be a big improvement. Or make the keyword not required so that all posts by a user could be found, just like on the user profile. Of course, had it given me an appropriate error message to begin with, we wouldn't have even had this discussion.
