Forum Upgrade Tonight

Hi Everyone,

Don't be alarmed - I will be taking the discussion forums offline for a couple of hours tonight for some maintenance.  I anticipate some bugs to be fixed, some usability improvements, and better performance.

Great news - searching is now better than ever.  You can know use phrases.  Google...be gone!

Is this update what causes the unread forums to come up in order by time of last post rather than having forum topics grouped together?  I don't like that. 

Wow! Almost like the old forum style. Mikey likes it!

Is there anything you can do about the color? Can I choose how to view? I liked the yellow.

You finally gave me back all my options when I open the full response (instead of just the quick version) when I post.  I had been getting a blank section recently instead of all the choices for bold, underline, color, etc. so I had to use the quick version to post food recalls, since they contain both bold (for states involved) and red color (for the reason for recall).
 
I hadn't complained about it, since I figured my computer was no longer compatable with your system, and I just had to live with it.  (After all, it wasn't a life-and-death matter.)

This new (old) style is just, great! I really love it. Now, how about restoring all the posts we lost during the last transition.

Edit: I see what you did. One filter added, and the world is back on its axis.

Good question - It doesn't have much functionality now, but it gives us the opportunity for expanding the types of content that can be posted in the forums.  For example, YouTube videos, etc.

I don't have to side-scroll to see the whole page any more!   Haven't noticed any problems, but that was the first, VERY pleasant, surprise this afternoon.

The time now just says 32 mins ago, or 20 mins. ago, one I saw said 1 day and 20 mins. ago. Yes, older posts from several days ago still show a date and time but everything within the last 48 hours or so just shows in hours and minutes.

Yep, it's there on the bottom right side of the page.

Actually, I see flagging as well, right next to it.....I wonder if the mods can see flagged posts this time around - they could not see flagged posts before (except by opening a thread and noting them just as anyone else would)

One oddity I noticed is that the 'rate post' button does not appear in the fast food forums or in misc/light fare, but it does appear elsewhere

That has been in place for a few months.  We only want real Roadfood posts to be rated.

One thing: the section that shows:

It's not real clear whether that refers to the post just above or just below.  Close inspection seems to indicate it's the post above, but I think it's not that obvious.
