Free Butterball chicken and turkey

This may be the wrong forum, but I don't know where else to put it. I bought on sale some "Butterball" presliced, precooked turkey brest to put on salad. It was a good deal and I figured I would try it. It said "Free turkey, details inside". I didn't give the free much thought, thinking it was "save 30 boxtops, get a free package". I was surprised to find in the package a coupon for a rebate of the purchase price up to 4.99, and you can do up to 3 rebates per address. It doesn't taste bad and it comes in a reusable tub. The price is right.

So it was not a whole turkey right? Just what you had bought? A good deal then.

Yes just a rebate on what I bought, and since I got it on sale, I will not get the whole 4.99. I paid and will get 3.29. I should have bought 3 packages though!!

The offer is good in Pittsburgh, PA area supermarkets. I saw it today. Package is 10 ounces for $4.99. That is quite a price to pay for "convenience".

Funny that it was right by the freshly cut up chicken, not with other prepackaged deli meats.

The deal is over. I went to buy more last night and all that was left with the rebate coupon was short dated. Packages with a better date didn't have a rebate.

The rebate coupon is inside the package. I don't think that the store would appreciate my opening them up!
