Nonetheless, I agree with you. The world is so much more entertaining as it is rather than if we all were instantly able to comprehend (and therefore perforce be identical to) one another.

I have often been accused of being the queen of Babel.

Aren't crabs and lobsters fairly closely related? If so, it is pretty well documented that crabs can regenerate limbs easily...and release their claws without trauma...how many sentient beings can do that??
And by the way, I am pretty sensitive to the conditions in which many calves, chickens, and hogs are kept in these big agribusiness times. Unfortunately, the conditions at the average Perdue henhouse are far away from the conditions in which chickens exist (and have existed) in other places...free range chickens don't have their beaks cut off, are not crammed in a restricted place.
And believe it or not, there are actually places where veal calves are not shoved into partitions where they will be cramped.
But of course, people will pay more for this veal.

Yes, for the record lobsters regenerate a claw that is broken off. They also fight amongst each other, with one or both frequently losing a claw.

Correct! The regenerated claw will not grow back as big as the original claw. They also eat each other. If one dies in the tank you might find some part of the eaten one left on the bottom. Nasty creatures but they sure taste good.

Crabs can do the same thing but they have the ability to willingly drop an appendage in order to get away from a predator.

That is the reason that when I am in Maine at the Lobster pound, I always pick the buddy with two good claws. Nothing like a couple of good hands and a piece of tail. I did not mean anything nasty with that and I swear honestly

Sorry for this parenthetical question, but it is about crustaceons.
When recipes call for cleaning lobsters and crabs before cooking, how on earth do you do it without losing a finger??? I know that with lobsters, people leave the rubber bands on, but what about crabs? When I cook live ones, I just through them in boiling water for a few seconds, killing them, and hopefully, killing any nasty germs. Then, I prepare them the way I want.

I remember reading once that people will swoon over a Snow Leopard and freak out about head lice.

There is a religious group in India called (I think) Jains who revere life so much that they will not step on an ant or bug. So they hire people to tote them around in a litter.

When I lived in Maine somebody was sobbing about the poor lobstahs we were about to boil and someone said "Hey, a lobster would eat you if it could."
