Real Polish sausage (not kielbasa) from Ostrowski's is GREAT. My wife has family in Balmer/Balteemore (Baltimore) and when she visits every couple of months or so she always brings back a couple of Ostrowski's sausages. EXCELLENT!!!

jms,
If you love Ostrowski's, you just have to try the 8 different Kielbasa styles from the Krakus Deli, especially the smoked (made from tenderloin) Hunter Sausage. You will not be disappointed.

Foodbme,
Even though I married into a Polish family I'm no expert. Looking on the Internet, kielbasa is the generic name for all Polish sausage but the way I've seen it, if it's labeled kielbasa it's a smoked suasage whereas what I call "real" Polish sausage is the raw meat mixture in a natural casing. Wikipedia says it's sometimes called white sausage. The link below has a good picture of what I'm talking about.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kielbasa

What you get from Ostrowki's in Balteemore/Balmer (Baltimore) is the "real" Polish sausage and is labeled Polish sausage. Oddly enough, Ostrowski's logo is "Homemade Polish Kielbasa" but their "real" Polish sausage always has "Polish sausage" on the label, not kielbasa. Now I'm confused myself. If you really want to know maybe you can e-mail John Ostrowski. Here are a couple of links to Ostrowski's kinda sorta web page.

Thanx for the education. I've been on Ostrowski's web site and even emailed him to see if he shipped it. In looking at the other emails, apparently a lot of other people have requested the same thing. Apparently he does not ship it, but he doesn't respond to the emails either. I guess he's too busy making sausage and counting his money!

That Wikipedia is amazing. You can learn anything about anything on trhere. We should close the school;s, give every kid a computer and require thgey spend 4 hours a day on Wikipedia. Thewy would be the best educated kids on the Planet!

We live close to Niles Mich, Martin's Supermarket and Shelton's Farm Market in Niles both make great fresh polish sausage! So does Lowery's in Buchanan.

A little advice if you go to Lowery's in Buchanan, Make sure You have time to spare, there is usually 20 to 30 people a head of You!
