Fresh sausage

I thought I would post and let you guys know about a sausage that is new to my part of the world, which is the triangle in NC. I was in my local grocery store last night and as I passed the sausage area I noticed they had George Jones country sausage for sale. I had never tried it before and it was also buy 1 get 1 free so I said what the heck. My wife isn't a huge sausage eater and I got the hot type by accident which is fine for me. I just got through frying it up and I have to tell you it has one of the best flavors I have ever eaten, next to my family's sausage recipe that is.... but that's a story for another time. It had a good hot flavor without being HOT. The seasonings are great quality and you could actually see them as I patted the meat out. It really did taste like the sausage from my childhood memories, and food of today's foods do that for me anymore. I had a conversation with a client last night and we got on the topic of "hog killing" and good ol' country food. Yes, I'm a country boy here, raised on the farm. Anyway, great sausage and I hope people will try it, I would hate to see it not make it. Dennis

quote:Originally posted by Hillbilly Possum makes great sausage! I'm sorry if my earlier post turned this into a "Road(kill)food" thread. Unless you are a hard core country music fan, you might not know that George Jones' nickname is "Possum". I just find it hilarious that a man whose nickname is possum would enter the meat packing business, or lend his name and likeness to the promotion. BUT-- I have tried the sausage, and Dennis is right. It makes some of the best patties I have ever eaten, and I have eaten plenty. It is considerably better than that named after the other, less legendary, country singer who was recently removed from commercials about his brand.

What??? you must be talking about Jimmy Dean, what's the story with that hillbilly? I haven't been a fan of his sausage for years, IF that is who you are talking about. Dennis

Dennis See I-95's thread on "Somebody doesn't like Sarah Lee..." (sometime in the last couple of months). There are about 2 pages of dialogue on this.
