The Virginia Diner? In Smithfield? We've eaten there. Thanks for carrying the ball ETR, I didn't get a picture of last weekend's Caramel Pie.

That thing was heavenly....and if it's a day's calories then sell me the whole tin and I'll call it a week!

This is cheating because the source isn't really a Roadfood place, but it's a pretty piece of pie from the Carnegie Museum Cafe:

I think stricken_detective's guess sounds right. Here's mine for today, the best Pecan Pie from Mary Mac's in Atlanta, GA:

JRPfeff, those look delicious. I love that both have a tweak on the classic (caramel & maple). I've never had them like that, I bet they are amazing...and I would love to try it.

Tis the season for fruitcake...anyone tried a fruitcake pie? http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Fruitcake-Pie
This recipe came from a friend who knows how much we love fruitcake. The pie has similar flavors, but it’s more manageable to make than a large batch of fruitcake. I usually serve it with whipped cream. It’s excellent with ice cream, too.

We have two and a half pies left. Any members of the Contingent with a hankering for old fashioned homemade Mincemeat Pie should phone or PM me to arrange a drop-off.

Happy Pi Day everyone! Today, March 14th is the official day to celebrate the number pi and all things related to it, including pies from rhubarb to pizza. According to Wikipedia it started in 1988 by a bunch of museum staff with too much time on their hands. The really scary part is that there is also a Pi Approximation Day that is celebrated on July 7th, since pi is also calculated as 22/7ths. In any case, a good excuse to go eat some pie today!
