Frozen Peepsicles!

Courtesy of our local OMC.com: 6 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut or 1/2 cup peanuts, finely chopped 12 popsicle sticks 12 Peeps bunnies, any color Directions: Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted and smooth. Smooth out the coconut or nuts on a plate. Insert one craft stick about halfway into the bottom section of one bunny (uh-oh; Peep abuse?) Dip into the chocolate, turning to coat completely. Holding the dipped bunny over the bowl of chocolate, use a knife to scrape the excess chocolate off the back and bottom of the bunny, letting it fall back into the bowl. Hold the bunny over the plate of coconut or nuts and sprinkle to cover all sides. Place the bunny on the prepared baking sheet and repeat to dip the remaining bunnies. Freeze until firm, about 30 minutes. Serve frozen. Makes 12 Peepsicles.

Here's a recipe from our Sunday paper, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: • Various marshmallow Peeps • White, milk and/or semi sweet chocolate • Popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks • Colorful sprinkles (nonpareils) or decorative jimmies • Ribbons for decoration (optional) Impale each Peep on a stick. Place chocolate in medium bowl and melt in microwave, stirring until smooth. Dip Peeps halfway into chocolate, or coat fully with chocolate, if desired. Let excess drip off. Sprinkle Peepsicles with nonpareils or jimmies. Place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Or, stand upright in small drinking glasses or cups. Repeat until you have the desired amount of Peepsicles. Refrigerate just until chocolate hardens. Tie a ribbon around the sticks to form a bow. Store in an airtight container until ready to serve. Note: Peepsicles also could be inserted into the top of a cake as decoration or individually in cupcakes.

I have a feeling that if I never have another Peep, my life will still be OK.

I found something different (and delicious) in the Peeps "family" this year at Blain's Farm and Fleet: Orange Cream flavored (and orange colored) Peeps eggs. (somewhat flat egg-shaped). They were the only place around here that had them, as far as I know, as everybody else that had orange colored Peeps just had ones with the standard plain marshmallow flavor. I'll bet if I had had the chocolate dipping recipe above (or had thought to dip them in chocolate), they would have had a really fantastic taste (like the foil-wrapped chocolate "oranges" at Christmas time).
