In Oxford MS this morning- heading to Memphis in a few to take care of some personal business this morning, then some Memphis style Q this afternoon and then its off to Fayetteville/Sprindale Rogers AR . I will then head to Little Rock tomorrow evening. Which is where I'll be based until driving to Nashville on Friday

C K- It has stopped here and is melting off slowly. We got just over two inches over night.  Should be bare ground this afternoon.   See ya soon.

Snowing like mad here in the Columbus area.  No matter.  We'll be leaving at the crack of dawn Thursday, Hawaiian shirts packed and a few other surprises.  Cannot wait!  See you all in a few days.

OK... What's the current price of Gas in Nashville? We are at the final planning stages, and are checking the fuel stops. $3.55 here in Louisville, a dime cheaper in Owensboro.

Gasoline prices have gone up 83 percent since Inauguration Day, 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which also points out that the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline on that day was $1.79.

NBC's Today show reported that gas will be $5.00 by July.  I may purchase a Honda Metropolitan for short local trips.  I had one but I sold it and I wish I had it back.  About 100 mpg and a top speed of about 45 mph.  That would be about $14.00 round trip to Nashville and would take four hours one way.

Yeah, but if it took you four hours one way, you'd have to stop to grab a meal (or three) along the way, and that would boost your costs!  :-)

Currently in Fayetteville AR and rain again  Luckily it looks like fine weather for the rest of  the  trip.
 
For those who  regretably  experienced Payne's BBQ 3 years  ago  in Memphis,I just want to say we all went to  the wrong Paynes. As it turns out  I returned to the original location on Lamar- ironically they were out of  pork shoulder (remember Cozy Corner?) 
However their ribs were fan-freakin- tastic and so were the beans. This was nothing like the other location on Elvis Presley blvd. As it turns out the two Paynes locations are not even affilliated with eachother.  In fact I found out the Elvis Presley Blvd location is out of business. I look forward to trying Payne's Pork Sandwich on Friday when I drive through Memphis again.

It's about the same here.  I paid $3.51 last night just south of Nashville...

Looks like a good weekend.  Good friends, good food, who cares about the price of gas.

Well, the Tucson is loaded up and ready to head out. OK, so the clothes and stuff haven't been packed yet. But the tank is full, all the windows and mirrors are clean and the new GPS is on board. Come first light we'll be on our way.

I certainly wish that I could attend, but the doctor said  that the packing cannot be removed before Friday.   I shall send for some Loveless  Cafe biscuit mix   and  make the biscuits as I sit here looking at the pictures of Mr. Hoffman in his amazing shirt.

Well, ChiTownDiner and myself already have two great stops, Ed's Hot Fish and Swett's under our belt. Both of them were fantastic! We will soon be meeting CajunKing at Rotier's. What a great weekend this is going to be!

Ed's Hot Fish & Pizza was a great Roadfood stop.  On a desolate corner (due to the rainy evening), we walked into a dimly lit 3 counter stools and 1 2-top kinda place.  The owner, after carefully eyeing us, really rolled out the red carpet.  While the menu choices are limited, he guided us through and relayed the order to the kitchen.
After letting him know this was our first stop of many for that evening, we each received approx. a 1/2 pound whiting filet sandwich, on 3 pieces of bread with hot sauce, mustard, onions (raw) and pickles.  We clean sweeped the sides and each got all three, fries, a highest rating by me cole slaw and spagehtti with sweet red sauce.
We pounded it down...actually saw sparks fly from the man next to me.  We had a conversation that started and stopped with each passing customer.
What a class act!  We got a really cool education on Richard Dent of the Bears who was a regular in his college days.  Ed's was also an invited restaurant provider in Canton for Dent's Hall of Fame Day!

i arrived in Little Rock about 45 minutes ago. Just had a quick conversation with Chi Town Diner who had to begin the "ordering process" at Rotier's.
 
He said it's going to take a few seconds, I'm thinking it's going to take close to an hour.
 
I had a fine  early dinner at the AQ Chicken House in Fayetteville before taking the 2 hour and 40 minute drive to downtown Little Rock. 
 
Just an FYI- TTM will be very proud of me- I've been Travelin Manned not once, not twice but three times on this trip so far -
