It looks like Sandra may be joining me. Right now it's tentative. Hopefully I'll know for certain shortly.

Annie, we just told them you were under 12 so you you eat free at the motel...hehehehe All kidding aside we are thrilled that Anne will be with us. You guys that haven't met her yet are in for a very pleasant treat. BB would New Orleans be a better flight for Cousin Johnny? or Jacksonville? We'll be driving down I-65 leaving mid-nite or so Thursday night to get there by noon Friday. Wintzells Friday nite...Brick Pit Saturday nite...everything else is open. We may give Dreamland or the Shack a try again. Since the pup's are remaining at home, we may be joining the group at whatever bargain Dale finds for us. Keep up the housing bulletins W J .

Roz and I will be excited to meet Ann and perhaps Bob as well as meet with many of our old friends. Everything Al mentioned regarding Winzell's, Dreamland, Brick Pit was double outstanding. Unless the Beauty and the Beast gets a super deal, Roz and I probably will be staying in the Marriott downtown. Great view of the dock, water, railroad but walkable to Winzell's. I believe Mobile is the only city visited by the Glee Club that we enjoyed each and every stop. Looking forward to evening cocktails with all that would like to attend. Great conversation. It is about a eight hour drive from Knoxville but we leave early and will get there about when Al does about noon. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Yes, I will be there.......Bob perhaps not, depending on his health. Will be taking the train to Louisville, and driving down with Al and Janet. This will be my birthday weekend( Paul-I believe your birthday is in Feb., as well) so it will be a great gift to be with everyone!

No Trains... You get to "Go Greyhound"...but we'll make sure you are safe ! I am looking forward to really trying some of Wintzells West Indies Salad. I tasted it once, but not enough to decide if I liked it or not. But OYSTERS, Oh My Do I love Oysters. If I recall I downed their 'Dozen Raw and a 16 oz beer for $5.00 five times before we settled down for dinner. Those Oysters were outstanding. Then the broiler sampler...sheesch I can hardly wait.

This will be my birthday weekend( Paul-I believe your birthday is in Feb., as well) so it will be a great gift to be with everyone! As Al mentioned, there is no Amtrak service to Louisville any more. One alternative to taking the bus the whole way would be to take the train from Milwaukee to Indianapolis, and then catch a bus for a much shorter IND-Louisville run. It looks like the train, if booked now, for the week in question would cost roughly $50 each way MKE-IND. It looks like the bus fare would be about $21 each way from Indy-Louisville on Mega Bus, which seems far preferable to Greyhound. $140 round trip seems downright reasonable to me to go primarily by train.

Thanks Steve. I don't use the mass transportation anymore, so your info is appreciated. I'll talk to Annie about this offline...We'll get her here and back, for sure.

OK Its official, Sandra will be joining us. Al and everyone else. I'll do my best with priceline, but there are no guarantees. Remember Mobile is small, and there aren't many hotels downtown , so the chances of getting an amazing deal are not nearly as good as they were in Nashville. Its almost my bedtime so I'll explore some options within the next few days. In the meantime, I'm probably going to start by best of 2012 list pretty soon (at least the soup and pie part)

At first, I looked at Atlanta...figuring you can pick her up on the way. But, train to ATL from MKE is about $300 each way - and connects in Washington, DC. Not good. Indy looks like the best "connecting" city to grab a bus, but you can always play around with other city pairs.

I dont know why i said train-I am taking the bus. I certainly will double check the routes. It would arrive alot earlier if I got off in Indianapolis......I am already dreaming of oysters... Thanks, TTM, for the info....

As we said, All are invited. This is an annual social gathering that extends the fun of meeting folks you've "Internet Communicated with", sometimes for years, without actually meeting them. No admission fees ..just pay your own way. Stop with the group at the places you want to visit...any or all.. of the food-stops, plus a bunch of Historic and other interesting places in the area, or take a break between meals to relax on the beach or pool-side. The only whole group activites we encourage all to attend are the two dinner sessions, but there are those who hit as many as 6 or 7 other food-stops to sample local cruisine. It has always been a very fun weekend. Ask anyone who attended the dinner in Nashville last year. We had a great time.

With no dogs, and Annie claiming she is under 12, we'll try to get into the 'group' motel/hotel instead of searching for a pets-admitted place.

I'll recheck my schedule, But I think that's the weekend I'll be with my drumline, at the Indianapolis regional competition. If I can't make it for oysters, at least I'll have Shapiro's and Grey Brother's.

We were in Fort Walton Beach a few weeks ago. If you go that far east, look for a place called Stewby's. Fresh softshell crabs, fresh gulf shrimp and fish. It's on Racetrack road.
