Thanks for posting this Foodbme.  The only other place on the list I have had the GCC is at Bert's Burger Bowl.  Whoever does win the title this year better enjoy it, because the Bobcat Bite Santa Fe Bite will be back to take it's crown!

Well that just means adding 17 joints to your NM GCC Bucket List!
So, when are you going to start on it?

Thanks, Foodbme. It does sound great. Unfortunately, I'm already committed to the Delicious Chili and Brewfest at the Queen Mary. The good news is, they are having a green chile category. It's an ICS event. So please, have a green chile cheeseburger for me. Looking forward to your report!

While that's true, the reason I won't fly is because I no longer have to fly in commercial aircraft. When I had to for my work I did, although I've never felt comfortable in an aircraft I can't land.

I flew into Albuquerque last year and asked the rental car guy for a green chili cheeseburger recommendation and he said, "they're everywhere."  I was hooked right then.
Just reading about this  makes me want to make my own GCCB's over the weekend!

I would make my own again, did it a few weeks back but the only hatch chiles we can get are canned and only mild.  Just not the same.  I should take Foodbme's advice......Take off from Columbus and Land in Santa Fe and join the Smackdown!

I am in Santa Fe right now - I have a second home here. (I'll be gone by Labor Day tho).
Just past Garrett's In with a sign "Santa Fe Bite" which seems to be the new location for Bobcat Bite. Don't know when it opens, someone needs to call.
Have you included Horsemen's Haven or Cerrillos Road? They have a terrific GCCB with GC so hot its amazin'.

Oh BTW, Chile Roasting Season has begun - or at least the set up of roasters in parking lots. Soon the air will be perfume! DOn't know if it will continue thru labor day, but great if it does.

BTWTW, I just checked the list on contenders from the SF Convention/Tourist site - listed by Foodme. Of course, you realize that these are higher end restaurants that are offering some version of GCCB for this contest, these are NOT local, small RF types. Those would be Bert's Horsemen's Haven, even El Parosol.

I've never tried one, but how is the green chile cheeseburger at Blake's Lotaburger?

Just came back from 9 days in SF. Got in late, so 1st thing next morning went exploring around town just to get the lay of the land and where things were in relation to where we stayed.
After a couple of hrs of looking around, Mrs QFan & I went looking for a place to get a bite. There were several Lottaburgers around town, so we stopped at one. Had my very first Green Chile Cheeseburger & it was terrific!!! Had a couple more before coming home including a stop at Bert's Burger Bowl. Both were excellent, but don't let the RF snobs tell you that you can't get good RF at a fast food joint. For the money, I'd go back to Lottaburger any time. OBTW, they are all over New Mexico including Albuquerque & Taos. Sort of like NM's version of In-N-Out. We also bought some canned Hatch Green Chiles at a local market to bring home to make our own when we grill.

I wish I could remember the name of the outstanding restaurant I ate in Los Alamos.  As I recall there was only 2 in downtown, but I had a phenomenal GCCB there.

I'll bet the place in Los Alamos is  El Parasol:

They have a few places in Northern NM and are very popular.
