I know what you mean; I’ve been researching Traeger, Louisiana Grill, and American Grills for over a year, after begging Cookshack to make a homeowners model of the FEC100 and being told they have no plans to do so in the foreseeable future.
I’ve gone to many, many, “Q” sites and conducted searches for these Smokers with grill names and found a lot of happy Traeger owners, two Louisiana Grill owners (One an employee), and no American Grill owners. After a year of intensive research I’ve settled on this one -
http://traegereast.com/professional.html There are Cookshack owners that can do wonders with them, first & foremost to come to mind is Prisonchef (Jack), an accomplished Chef. Truth of the matter is I do not have the patience to learn how to achieve the same results as Jack. My electric smoker turns out wonderful Butts & Briskets due to its ability to retain moisture, but I’m not happy with Ribs & Chicken. Hence the pellet pooper with it’s drier heat.
Not to leave the stick burners out, they’re great if you have the time and desire to play with fire, I no longer have either.
Hopefully this thread will assist Roadfood members that might be going through the pre purchase decision-making process.
