That will be reserved for my next trip in April. Contents obvious: freshly pattied meat, bacon, grilled onions galore, chili, cheese, lettuce, maters. Everything cooked 2 order (Yes, IT IS). Voted best burger in Atlanta 2006 Creative Loafing Magazine. Not in the best part of town, at all. (I don't care...). Tiny place with only only 8 stools or so. Don't be in a hurry. Don't expect to find an empty stool (or 2 either). Don't act like a tourista... Wait on Ms. Ann to ask you what you want (obvious)... Price? Cheap. Fries are the best side, but why do U ask?

What a feast!! I'm bout ready to load the pickup and head for Atlanta! Maybe even visits my folks AFTER I visit Ann's Snack Bar!!!!!!

Don't like the name, but that is one mouth-watering buger.

Somewhere there's a "Now that's HUGE!!" forum (or some such) wherein I mention this place. There is a second burger on their menu that is similar (the "Hood Burger) but has several ingredient variations.
An amazing situation has occurred there: the locals love Ann, and are glad to see her succeed, but want to keep it in a "outsiders have to come here and take it as it is" sort-of way (in other words, not upscale nor touristy). Anyone who acts like a reasonable human being is going to be treated perfectly well there, especially if you mention that you'd been by the place several times and wondered, then finally decided to come in and see for yourself.
From the reports I've been given, the place is even better than it looks. -- Voted best of the year and it ain't been fancified one bit. Like Harold's BBQ down on McDonough Blvd., that's my kind of place.
Memorial Drive is GA. 154 and is easily accessible from I-20 (but requires an exit at Moreland Avenue and a double-back of quite a few blocks if coming from the east. If coming from downtown, you can exit at Maynard Terrace.

Ann's is pretty good, when I worked downtown we went there often. I like the burger w/o chili - I think the chili makes it too sloppy to eat. The grilled onions really enhance it.

I think my next trip to florida, I will detour to HotLanta and pick one up, durn it made me hungry!!

You'd better allow a couple of extra days' travel time. From the sound of things, you're gonna have to WAIT for that burger while Miz. Ann fixes it... seem she don't do nothin' in no hurry.

P. S. If you had a 1962 Atlanta street map (as I do), you would note that this diner is kitty-cornered from Murphy High School. I have an old friend who went there back in 1967-68; his parents still live right around the corner on Fayetteville Road, S/E... half the house is in the City Of Atlanta and the other half is in unincorporated DeKalb County.

Why do you call it ghetto burger? Is it because it is not a clean place or in a dangerous digF?

Just curious as I have bought burgers in pretty seedy places.

I know Atlanta pretty well and I know the places to stay out of.

I did not name the burger. The name comes from the menu.

I was wondering the same thing. It reminds me of when we ate at Max's Italian Beef in Chicago and their ghetto fries.

I hate stress and as a matter of fact, I am removing all things of stress in my life.

Knoxville has a few places that are very good but the neighborhood ain't the best. I do not go there regardless of how good the food is. Stress is stress.

I sold my great boat because it was stressing me. I got three vehicles and two of them are stressing me. I got a big house and it is stressing me. All them things will be removed.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the article in Saturday's Wall Street Journal about the best hamburger in the country. The writer picked Ann's Snack Bar as the best.

Wow. I didn't know that. I just read in Creative Loafing Mazazine that Ms. Ann was planning to close her establishment soon, probably by summer. This can't be true...
