Girl Scout Cookies Fri, 10/15/10 10:22 AM (permalink)

Girl Scout Cookies  are now being sold in our area.  My  eight year old  granddaughter is very proud that she has  so many customers that have bought cookies to be handed out to the men and women serving in our Military.  She is already excited about going to the airport and handing them out,  She hopes that everyone  buys at least one box of cookies from her to be given out.

That's a terrific thing for them to be doing.

I'll buy ten boxes for her to give to the troops. PM me with the amount and an address for the check. Perhaps others here will consider buying some for the troops, too.

I like that they have that option of sending the cookies to troops. In the past I'd buy them just to help out someone's scout but would never eat them. I usually wound up giving them to the local food bank. Having a friend's son in law just returned from his 3rd tour of Afghanistan, I know how important those kind of treats are to them overseas.

When I was a GS leader (my older daughter), and my troop was selling cookies, we took donations and then shipped about 6 cases to my cousin's Naval unit that was stationed in the gulf at the time.
It was a wonderful treat for them.  We tried to keep mainly with the non-chocolate types because of the heat, but we couldn't resist adding in a case of thin mints, and he later told me they didn't mind one bit that they all melted together...
Now I have Boy Scouts (my younger boys) selling popcorn, and they actually have an option of folks making a donation and the scouts will send the popcorn directly to men and women serving in the military.
It's nice that the scouts are making the connection.

Good job with your granddughter's troop. I'm sure Juliet Gordon Low would be proud of her!

My  granddaughter's name is Juliette  so  she always  tells  her customers that they can pretend that  she was named ofter  the founder of the girls scouts...she  thinks  this might get her more sales!

One year I sold over a hundred boxes. My dad told my mom later that when he came to get me in the school gym how all the other little girls were standing in front of their little piles of cookie cases, "And then there's our kid, standing in front of this MOUNTAIN of cookie cases."

Good luck to your granddaughter, that is an awesome thing she is doing. There is a joke from the website learn from my fail dot com, I will post it if I can find it.
