This restaurant has been reviewed by The Sterns; I don't have a lot to add, but I've been working on my photography, and figured to post a couple pictures... and of course I will comment on the food!

Decor... it just breathes "Roadfood".

Placemat:

A new item, Ithaca root beer. This is really outstanding. It is sweet, creamy, and has something more than just a wintergreen flavor; it has complexity. Order it!

The view out the window. Worth noting here is, no a/c. The building sits above the lake, and there is a beautiful breeze-through. The windows are open and have screens. This shot was taken through the screen at full manual focus, shutter, and aperture. The a/f kept trying to focus on the screen!

Same picture, from the parking lot:

The legendary Pinesburger, medium rare. Notice, it is not too big, and properly pink. Too big of a burger, and you need a fork. The bread is fantastic! The burger is real meat, of course, hand pressed with enough fat to make it juicy, and full of real beef flavor.

The onion rings were good; I like onion rings, and I certainly ate them all! The cole slaw is very, very good, somewhat coarser that I'm used to seeing. I liked that. As part of my effort to improve my food photography, I took some shots with the forks in them, and they have a nice feel.

We don't usually order dessert, but today, we did.

Kentucky Derby pie. This tastes like a warm cookie right from the oven. Good, but also very, very sweet, almost cloyingly sweet. I'd say, fewer chocolate chips might be in order:

    Peanut butter chocolate pie:

Home made carrot cake. Mrs Mosca says that carrot cake should always be served at room temperature. This was chilled. I dunno, I thought it was pretty good. I liked the thinner icing; it let the spiciness of the cake stand out:

There you have it. Nothing that hasn't already been said, but some nice food shots. The lighting helped, of course; we were there around 5:30 on what is obviously a perfect day, topped off by an excellent Roadmeal!

Next time, though, it has to be the Shortstop for a triple sui.

        Mosca-
Thanks for the terrific pictures of this excellent Roadfood restaurant. Especially the photos of the delicous looking Pinesburger. I have only been to Glenwood Pines one time, (and had the Pinesburger) but really enjoyed the place.

            god I miss Ithaca!

My first teaching job was in that area, a group of us used to go to Ithaca for dinner and drinks once per week. Great area.

nice pics of the food, and Cayuga Lake.

Great pics. However, a meal at the Glenwood Pines seems incomplete without one of their Bloody Marys.

i had the pines burger and the derby pie as well, when i was there last august.
great pictures, but of course you have a good subject to work with.
i also enjoyed the look of the bowling game they have in the bar by the front door, i'll look around and see if i took a shot of it

                  Mosca,

Absolutely beautiful pics of the food and the scenery. Love the narrative. I need to get up to Ithaca. I've driven through, but never spent any real time there. Such a beautiful area! Thanks!

I'm stuck in my office in NY City on a beautiful Friday afternoon and ate at my desk with food from the cafeteria today. Thanks for the peek out the window and the shots of some decent food.

But, what is The Shortstop, and what is a triple sui??
