Ok, I love Sheetz and would like to have a forum for those kindred spirits out there to celebrate and sometimes vent about this wonderful chain. I'll start it off with this question - Should Sheetz charge extra for tomatoes, onions, etc. on shmuffins, shbiscuits, and 99 cent hamburges? My opinion...NO!

FYI, Sheetz is a regional chain to the Mid-Atlantic area. Maybe just Pa., Md., and WV. I'm not sure about other states.

Sheetzaholic, Sheetz is OK but it sure isn't worth bragging about a whole lot. It's probably a step up from McD's. but it isn't really good, just fair. Although better then anything 7-11 sells.

In YOUR opinion Mike S...YOUR OPINION. I find Sheetz to be clean, priced decently, food better than most Fast Food places. It's a very good stop & go. I would think it IS worth bragging about, but then again, I'm just a simple sort, not a wise snob like yourself.

What's up Sheetzaholic? I rarely get subs there, usually get a shmagel with bacon, cheddar, garlic sauce.

But, I need to know....are the 99 cent burgers pretty good? And DO they actually charge extra for the toppings? Also, what about the
"fajitas" and "wraps"? Are the steak fajitas ok? I also noticed that they used to have boneless wings but not anymore. Are their other chicken products like chicken fingers any good? Thanks

Gee so now I'm a snob because I give Sheetz a 3 out of 5.

              Oh well, sticks and stones.

I used to like Sheetz a lot, but now I dont like it hardly at all. I used to get the burgers, fries and a few assorted subs while I was working, but it all tastes kind of weird to me now. Just not my cup of tea.

made for a decent dinner the other night for me. 2 chili cheese hot dogs and a footlong meatball sub. hotdogs were great, the sub was ok, only ate half then saved the rest for work yesterday. the sauce wasn't my cup of tea while it was hot but yesterday on the way back from work it was pretty good.

All that vitriol in defense of a crappy regional clone of 7-11?
Can I be a wise snob too?

Sheetz, Wawa, sounds like euphemisms and baby talk. Who comes up with these names?

Wawa is some Eastern Native American dialect word for goose. Hence, the goose in the logo.

the Goose story is true, but the convenience store chain is named Wawa because its headquatered in Wawa Pa. (on Route 1 southwest of Phila)

Sheetz was founded by people named Sheetz.

a clone of 7-11. no way! 7-11 doesn't make food fresh on site. WaWa is a clone of 7-11, but I wouldn't put sheetz in that same catagory.

Ok, easy guys + gals! I would never say that Sheetz is a white linen establishment, but it IS affordable and FRESH! Plus, ain't too greasy... So, to answer the question about the wrapz...yes they are tasty. Just yesterday I had the "Eatza like a pizza" with all the toppings I could stand. mmm. mmm. As for the 99 cent burgers, they do ask for a a small increase for tomatoes and most other things that in my opinion should be standard. As for WAWA, 711, and I'll add for W. PA folks...Get Go - Sheetz is the ORIGINAL! These others are half steppin'. Sheetz is an acknowledged industry leader w/ the touch screen technology. Plus, they have an enforced policy of clean, well maintained rest rooms which is a welcome sight when on the road! Anyway, enough for now. Keep thinking about and eating MTO's. PS - Pick up a location map (there are locations in PA, OH, WV, NC, VA, and MD). They are free! My goal is to visit each one, and I'm not kidding.

The restrooms are almost always clean but some of the older stores only have 1. They are unisex which isn't a problem except that you can be stuck in-line for awhile.

The food is good. I'll sometimes grab a ft long sub after 4pm when it goes on sale for 4.99, any ft long at that price. The ones by me don't have french fries but in Berkeley Springs WV they do. They are pretty darn tasty and I wish my local stores had them.

I'd rather stop here then McD's. But still not anything to write home about.

                                    Mike "the wise snob" S.

If you go to the Sheetz website + sign up for their eblasts you'll get good coupons. I just got one for 55 cents off a 6". Not too bad when they don't cost to too much.

Like Mike S., I frequent the Sheetz in Berkeley Springs, WVa. They have been a godsend at times. (You know milk, sugar, butter TP.) The first one that I went to was in downtown Johnstown, Pa. on Christmas morning. Our coffee pot went on the fritz and that was the only place open. Good coffee too. Since then, when we have been on the road, we know them to have clean restrooms and a friendly atmosphere. Is it "Roadfood"? No way. Do they come in handy when needed, absolutely. The best thing about the one in the Springs is that I can leave the farm at six in the morning, talk to the folks out front of the Sheetz and come back with a good cup of coffee and a newspaper. What more do you need?

the 99 cents hamburger is not good at all! unless you like the burgers from high school lunches... this is the one menu item from sheetz that i think needs major improvement.

I used to eat at Sheetz STORES, but I refuse to now because I have watched food preparers touching their hair and scratching sweaty body parts then proceed to continue food preparation. When I politely brought this to the attention of management, I was met with underwhelming apathy. Sorry, I'll go somewhere that hides their cleanliness problems better!!

Referring to the "unusual" names for the Eastern Convenience Store Chains... I miss the bright Orange "Convenient" stores that were everywhere in the East 25 years ago , or so.
The Western USA has a few real gems in Convenience Store Names too. Visit a "Stinker" (Skunk on the Logo) in Utah lately?...Or Maverick with it's longhorn cow? In SoCal "Cum & Go" barely scrapes thru the censors firewalls!!(no graphics for this chain!!)

In my hometown, when 7-11 pulled out, Convenient Stores moved in. They were the big thing. I think what hurt them, was places like A-Plus and other gas station convenient stores that provided both the convenient store and the gas. Other Central NY convenience stores/mini-marts included Red Apple, Byrne Dairy, and Wilson Farms to name a few.

Here in DC, there's 7-11. There are some mom and pop sotres here and there, but 7-11 rules as far as chain stores. The closest Sheetz, which is definately a big step up from 7-11, is in Dale City and Manassas Park, VA - more than 25 miles away. Which in DC, is well over an hour drive. I like Sheetz, but not that much.
