Goat Milk ...

Oprah says that the people who are living to be 110 is some corners of the world I've never heard of all drink goat milk.

I wonder if it's too late for me to make the switch.

I used to have a lovely Toggenburg goat that gave me close a gallon a day!! The milk is great--but really depends on what they are eating---the best milk we got from her was when she was used to clear out a 100 yr old blackberry thicket that was HUGE--they strip the plant---eat leaves bark thorns---left us with a much easier to manage and pull and much less THICK mass that was large enough that we used some to grill with---and the MILK--so sweet!!!---also add two tablespoons of cider vinegar to a gallon of the milk and slowley bring to a boil---them cool over night and strain of the whey with a cheeseclouth and strainer---add a touch of lemon zest and a little sea salt and we had a fabul90us riccotta!

It's higher in vitamins than cows milk, easier to digest and it's supposed to have heart benifits. I buy it on occasion at Trader Joe's and at a farm when in the area. I can't notice much of a taste difference, a little richer maybe. Price? so-so compared to a good cow {organic} milk.
It's very close to mothers milk in nutrition. Chow Jim

I grew up with a neighborhood boy whose family kept a goat and he had to milk it every day after school - his mother said it was much better for you than cow's milk and that it encouraged longevity. Mother, father, three children- all of them dead and I'm still here to write about it. However, The stuff makes fabulous cheese, so I love it!!

    Cheers, John

There are two farms close to me that sell unpasteurized goat milk; one I won't buy from anymore because of unscrupulous business practices, and another that I buy from regularly.

I hear that goat milk is better for you than cow milk, but I haven't noticed a difference in that regard.

The unpasteurized, unhomogenized cow milk I buy has much more yummy butterfat than the goat milk.

As for taste, there is nothing wrong with the goat milk. The cow milk is just better because those Jersey cows have lots of delicious butterfat.
