I am a history buff, and one of my heroes growing up was Virgil I Grissom. It could be because he was a fairly local man (90 minutes from here is where he was raised and his public memorial is located). it could be because I wanted to be an astronaut (and still do). Today January 27, 1967 at 18:31 hours (6:31pm) a wire arced in a pure oxygen enviroment, sparking a fire that consumed copious amounts of velcro and wires, and everything else inside the Apollo One capsule. The inward opening doors that were BOLTED shut. In less than a minute they were gone. Virgil I "Gus" Grissom Roger Chaffee Ed White II Ad Astra Per Aspera RIP - you will always be remembered http://news.yahoo.com/apo...ed-nasa-115200793.html P.S. Anyone know where Virgil Grissom got his nickname "GUS"?? (besides me)
