Good BBQ near Nashville Fri, 01/19/07 8:12 PM (permalink)
I had some really good BBQ today. I ate at Martins Bar-B-Que Joint in Nolensville, TN. I had heard good things about the place and they were certainly meritted. I got a jumbo pulled pork sandwich with sides of baked beans and potato salad. All were excellent. I pulled a strip of pork out and it was about 4" long and the smoke ring was about half that. I'll definitely be going back maybe next time I'll take some pics.

Oops, I left off the address in my original post. Martin's is located at:
      7215 Nolensville Rd.
      Nolensville, TN 37135
Everybody in the Nashville area get down there and help this local establishment thrive in an area that is just beginning to be homogenized by national chains!

        Dang,
Been gone from the area a little over 12 yrs. Hard to imagine the Nolensville I remember as being eat up with fast food chains!

My wife and I had lunch at Martin's today. We found both the pulled pork and the brisket to be excellent, as were the sides. Just be forewarned that if you don't ask for it on the side, you get a thick dark KC-style sauce (but not quite as sweet and with a lot more bite!) on the meat. I actually liked the sauce quite a bit (was especially good on the brisket) but that might not be the case with everybody. Lots of good smoky flavor!!

Martins sounds very good. When I lived in Nashville (left 25 yrs. ago), there was a Que joint I liked, Coarseys, near the state fairgrounds, may have been on Nolensville Rd. Anyone have info? Thanks.

A friend of mine from Tn visited us recently and he told me Coursey's had been shut down for a while. Said they still do the State Fair gig, and maybe a little catering. Can't remember what he said happened to the building. Probably something Hispanic. I've heard that you have to speak espanol in the old Flat Rock area on Nolensville Rd all the way out to Harding Mall area.

I just looked up that adress on my Personal Navigation device and it says "El Texano BBQ". Has Martins been sold or is the El Texano next door ????

El Texano closed back in the summer. Martin's renovated the building and then opened in the old El Texano location.
