I am taking a trip to St. Louis in October, and would like to know your recommendations on the best places to eat.

I am a hamburger fan, and for sure will try Connelly's Goody Goody Diner.

Also like homestyle comfort food, especially Fried Chicken with all the fixens and side dishes.

Cunnetto's House of Pasta is also on my list, and being a child of the 60's, I love good cafeterias.

Let's hear um!!

Thanks

      Split T,

Are you looking for RoadFoodWorthy places only or looking for some "fancy" places too?

For fried chicken, try Delmonico Diner or Tanner B's. A lot of Saint Louisans love Hodak's for fried chicken but I don't see it. For comfort food, try Iron Barley or previous places. For hamburgers try Blueberry Hill or Connell's. For breakfast, try O.T. Hodges for a slinger or Billie's for a meatloaf omelette! Not many cafeterias left, only those awful chain buffets.

Check out http://www.saucecafe.com for StL restaurants.

      Any other cuisines?

Tanner B's has fried chicken only on Thursday. It has a cornmeal breading if you like or dislike that. They may have it on other days but Thursday is the only sure bet. Another good place for hamburgers is Seamus McDaniel's in Dogtown.

My favorite casual, RoadFood place, Iron Barley, has a couple of paragraphs in the October issue of Gourmet magazine. Be sure to get soup, any kind, as they are all wonderful. For sandwiches try the Peppered Pork or Oak Roasted Chicken. For entrees, the smoked pork, zarzuela, schnitzel, or beef medallions.
