Good Greasy Eats in AZ, Pittsburgh and other places Sat, 10/10/09 1:47 AM (permalink)
While watching Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives tonight, I saw a Breakfast place, Over Easy, in Phoenix AZ that I want to try. A quick Google search took me down a trail untraveled and lead me to a website that could be classified as a Roadfood Goldmine!

Ladies & Gentlemen, I introduce you to: http://goodgreasyeats.com/about/

I'm definitely going to try:
http://www.eatatovereasy.com/
http://goodgreasyeats.com/2009/08/13/pittsburgh-willys-chandler-az/ Are you listening BuffetBuster?

The originator of the site is Gary Weinberg. His Bio says he is a film school drop out who won the record for eating the most Royales with Cheese in Berlin, Germany.  He is a self proclaimed foodie extraordinaire and is formally educated in cooking from watching Good Eats with Alton Brown on The Food Network. He enjoys traveling all over the world to find good hot dogs.  He also reviewed PAMALA's AND several other places in Pittsburgh! He must be from there. I'll find out. More info to follow.

    Thank you. Site bookmarked.

However, Mr. Weinberg's taste is immediately suspect because he liked the Pink's chili dog.

You've been on roadfood.com long enough to know that opinions are like rear ends. Most everyone has one and some of them stink!

We both know what opinions are like, and I'm one of those. In fact, I answer to the word as if it were my name.

However, in this instance, if he likes that horrid chili at Pink's, I won't be able to trust his take on chili in future reviews. I can live with that. The site looks as if it has promise.

Interesting reading but Phoenix and Pittsburgh are a bit of a hike for me.  They need to travel more.  I'll keep this website as my primary source.

I'm not sure where you guys got Pittsburgh from, unless you mean the place named Pittsburgh that is in Chandler which is reviewed.

Pink's chili dogs are an institution in L.A.! How anyone can have a problem with them is very very perplexing to me.

                  Bill,

On the right side of the website, there are numerous food categories.  Click on the links.  Many are reproductions from other links just of above them.  Many of those are from Pittsburgh.  Most are in Arizona.

Correct, for tourists looking for the "L.A. experience". Me, I'm just looking for good food and no hour-long wait in line. The chili at Pink's is in my top three of worst goddam chili I've ever experienced in So Cal.The other two are Cook's Corner in El Toro (nasty brick chili) and the Harbor House Cafe in Dana Point (tasted like dill).
