If a website makes me want to go to a restaurant, in my mind it's "good". It's not just about how it looks, it's what's on the menu and if the food appeals to me. If there's nothing on the menu that compels me to go there, no matter how well the website is designed, I'm not goin'.

    2) A lot of your viewers will not have Flash. Many large corporations and government agencies do not allow Flash on their machines. My employer is one... the IT department has all PCs locked down tight. When I go to the website you thought was great, all I see is a gray screen. Nothing else. Defeats the purpose of the website.

    1. yes you're right.
    2. yes you're right!

we develop in flash ALL the time.
    we love it.
it's the best thing since sliced bread.

flash programmers give flash a bad name.
    it's actually a GOOD thing.
it allows you to do so much and free's you of the shackles that HTML gives you - but that's also it's downfall.
people try to do so much and give no thought to the end user.

our policy: if flash is not required, then don't use it.
flash can add to a website greatly - if done in a subtle and unobtrusive way and has been implemented with the end user in mind.

the tao website... yes... all flash... and yes, no doubt not all users will be able to use it and see it.
but... i do think it's a good example of how flash can make a website look good and impressive.
the flash use is not over the top in my opinion.
i've certanly added the website to my list of favourites sites.

I run a small restaurant company in Northern California. We paid a semi-professional (someone who knew more than we did) to set up our site initially and maintain it ourselves. I would welcome any feedback about our site. Have a look, www.tomatina.com. Sorry, no food pictures!

I took a look - loved the story on the first page - grabbed my interest. Simple navigation, always found my way home.

I would recommend using a san-serif font - they are usually easier to read and I think look more elegant.

The nutrition chart may be difficult to read for those whose eyesight is going, but I LOVE IT. How like totally California! Wish everyone went through the trouble to do that.

Your menu switches from left to top - I don't really think this is a problem, but usually, it tends to stay in one place.

The General Information page is a bit narrow - like someone set the margins too small.

                You switch fonts between pages.

Yeeesh! This is my business - I'm a software project manager - don't get me started - I'm way too critical - your restaurants look yummy!

                    Doesn't matter where.
I haven't seen a single decent restaurant website ANYWHERE!

                    Thanks.

I think that the O.T. Hodge Chile Parlor web site is good, especially the menu pages, (Menu, On the Grill, Breakfast).
