Gordonsville/Charlottesville

We haven't been back here in a couple of years and were wondering if anyone has any new suggestions?
Also has anyone eaten at Tanglewood Ordinary in Maidens on Sunday?

I did go to Tanglewood Ordinary 4 years ago, unfortunately I found their fare to be...well....rather ordinary....

Not sure if this has been recommended to you before. I used to travel through Charlottesville quite a bit and although it's been a few years since I have eaten there, the C&O Restaurant was always a good choice. http://www.candorestaurant.com/
It is a bit pricey, but the setting is elegant and the food good.

Ace Biscuit is awesome, get the Old Dirty.

I was not overwhelmed by the barbecue place in Gordonsville. It's good, but you won't be thinking you're in North Carolina.

I and the wife had lunch there last Saturday.  It was okay, but then I'm from Long Island.

Nine months ago was my most recent trip to that area.  I enjoyed Crozet Pizza immensely; it really lived up to its 'hype'.

Also, see Michael Stern's recent reviews of Wayside Market in C'vl. and Brown's market in G'vl. for fried chicken.  Aside from a definite upgrade in ambience Wayside seems not to have changed since my grad school days at The University.

For pricier dining, I recommend both the C&O and The Bavarian Chef.

I agree. I had one lunch at Real Food and it makes me want to go back for more.

If anyone ever heads that way:

Orange, right up the road from Gordonsville, has a really god place on Main Street called Elmwood at Sparks.

Another fun spot is in Madison County at Graves Mountain Lodge. Fun folks! Lots of food!

In Charlottesville, pickings are a little slim on the roadfood side. Wayside Chicken is always good, Beer Run has a good selection on tap and decent food, and one of my favorite things to do is go to Champion Brewing and eat at whatever food truck is out there. The trouble with Cville is that it's a high-end city. Not many holes in the wall anymore. For that you have to go to the Valley.
