Next time i get within 100 miles of one of these establishments I'm making the detour. The thought of warm grease running down my chin and arm is just to much fantasy. Dipping the bun in the grease kind of reminded me of the days I use to dip my bread in hot bacon grease at the breakfast table.

There is a place that the roadfood group ate a couple of years ago in Memphis. It featured burgers fried in grease that was many years old. I tried one of them but Al would not. I think he got mad at me for doing it.
Personally, I am a clean freak but the burgers were pretty good. I forgot the name of the place but it was on Beale St. I am sure Poverty, Tiki or Al would remember.

Paul, It was/is DYER's Burgers AND No I didn't do the burger taste with you that night. I was set on BBQ, so an Old Grease Deep-fried Burger wasn't on my list !! Here we see Poverty Pete, Sundancer, and Tiki clutching their Grease Burgers, fresh from the cooking oil that is older than any of the gentlemen in the photo (so the place claims!!)

Well, there's further proof that it takes all kinds of tastes to go around. While it looks like heaven to some, I wouldn't eat one of those burgers if you paid me. Kind of reminds me of the chicken-fried bacon thread from a few months ago.

As a non-participant in the burger splurge that evening, I will testify that all of the characters in the photo were able to finish our tour of Memphis and travel the next morning out to Lexington,TN for a really great spread of BBQ and fellowship at Dennis Hays Smokehouse. Whatever damage the Grease-Burgers did was not evident at the time, and all three of these guys are still communicating on this site!!
