Great Barbeque in Las Vegas
We just got back from a "quasi" traditional Thanksgiving in Las Vegas, and returned with a new gem- Barbeque Masters.
This informal restaurant is tucked into a suburban strip mall in Green Valley (only about 15 minutes from the strip and worth the effort.)The official address is 1450 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway
Henderson, NV. 89052
Although not much to look it- it is very clean. More to the point however- this place actually uses hickory fired smokers for their meats. Whatever we tried was delicious, and tasted of TRUE bbq, and not just a suburban idea of barbeque. We had sampled the ribs, and pork shoulder (yes- this is their pulled pork.) Too bad they didn't have any peach cobbler, as it was a bit early. The chocolate cake was just fine though.
Previous to this trip we had been to Memphis BBQ- which is fine, and Lucille's (perhaps a bit too commercial, and lackluster.) This trip also brought us to Sweet Georgia Brown's.
That place is a real enigma. It is housed in a former Supper Club- so the setting is dramatic- and the food is from the former owners of H and H Barbeque, but the results are pretty mixed. Yes, our food was not bad at all- but the service was abysmal. The room is also very drafty, and dark at night. In regard to their food- a combination of barbeque and southern was average. The catfish was tasty, and plentiful. Ribs and brisket were not bad- but not great. The luncheon buffet might be interesting to try, particularly with better lighting.
All in all-we found a great find- Barbeque Masters. Let's all try to give this place some business!
