Snipe season doesn't open here in Ohio till October. I prefer hunting Wilson's snipe, but you can hunt jack snipe, too.

Just opened within the last 10 days..."Skips Humdinger Dog -- Home of the Pure Beef Hot Dog" in Suwanee, GA, roughly 30 miles Northeast of Atlanta. Hours 10am to 9pm, Monday thru Saturday. In a brand new strip mall off of GA 23 Buford Hwy. Brighton Station, 1175 Buford Hwy, Suwanee, GA. 770-831-8711.

Vienna Beef products. Menu includes various dogs plus Italian beef, sausages, brats, burgers, Philly cheese steaks, Reuben sandwiches and more...including tamales?? Chicago dog was outstanding and true to all traditions.

Owner and founder (Skip?) is native of Chicago who operated similar hot dog operations up there. Recently moved to Georgia when one of his kids married a local. Clearly knows his hot dogs!!

Also argues that hot dogs are "Dog Gone" nutritious, including tidbits such as: average dog has 5 to 7 grams of protein (equal to a large hard-cooked egg or two ounces of cottage cheese), and 125 calories (equal to two ounces of raisin bread or a large bowl of 40% corn flakes before milk). Notes that dogs are regular menu fixtures for Weight Watchers, NASA, US Army and more.

Let's give this guy some early support. We need more high quality dog joints!!

        The Scene
One of Peachtree's few honest-to-goodness hot dog stands, this trailer is hard to miss. Its colorful awning flutters in campy contrast to the polished backdrop of Symphony Hall. A few sidewalk tables are scattered in front, but most customers eat en route to their Midtown offices. The friendly family huddled inside the trailer handles the line with ease.

        The Food
Hot dogs and sausages--served only at lunch--aren't your typical pink ballpark franks. Barker's chargrills its weiners, giving them a dark red hue and deliciously crisp skin, then slathers them in your choice of many toppings. Try the signature hot sauce; its mild heat is made for the dogs' charred flavor. A regular hot dog alone probably won't dent your appetite, so upgrade to a jumbo or, better yet, a sausage. Poking out from both ends of the bun, the Polish is a smoky, sloppy monument to midday decadence.

        Insider Tips
        Know Before You Go
The daily special of dog, side item and can of soda runs about $5 and probably won't fill you up. Skip the puny side items and just order two dogs.

        When to Go
The later you come, the fewer your options. Show up much past 1pm and several items may be off the menu.
