A little local info for those of you wanting to try this one day. To eat at B's BBQ in Greenville NC, you need to be there as close to 11:30-11:45 as you can to get some que or even a chance at some ribs. Ribs goes first. B's and Bum's in Ayden are not to be missed.

 Great reading - a friend of mine tuned me in to Garden & Gun  last year - it's a great magazine and I anxiously look forward to every issue.  Lots of good writing and information - it's a treasure.
 

I agree that this magazine is a treasure. A co-worke of my son introduced me to it.  He brought in a couple of copies for my son to give to me.  It is an excellent magazine and I had never heard about it until a week ago.

My wife and I so love the North Carolina barbeque, and the wonderful people of North Carolina, that we bought a condo in Banner Elk (photos on my website) 10 years or so ago.

We call it our 'mountain-top retreat' and we spend six or eight weeks there each year.
 
If my wife could earn the salary that she makes here in Maryland, we would live in NC year round. 

But, until HER retirement (she is 15 years younger than I), we will have to be content with our frequent weekends there.

We are headed over to Camp Lejuene, NC for a Wedding in a couple of weeks. Hopefully we will get to explore some of the 'Eastern N C BBQ places during that long weekend ride.

It's also fairly close to Jacksonville, NC.

This is a great article, thanks for sharing.  As a BBQ Jew who lives in NC, I can vouch that this author is legit.  Almost all of the BBQ joints listed are worth a long trip.
