Great PR move

I missed my shot at this but maybe you still have time to plan and prep for your city or counties “candidate filing.” Every election year candidate’s file petitions to run for elected office. It’s always widely covered by Radio, TV, and the Print Press. First here is the headline in today’s local newspaper: Hundreds of candidates line up to secure a spot in 2008 primary Stanley Moore, a candidate for state representative in the 27th House District, staked out a spot in line more than 24 hours in advance, making Moore the first of hundreds of candidates to file Monday at the State Board of Elections for the Feb. 5 primary. In all, petitions were filed by 8 a.m. Monday for 650 candidates seeking nominations in the primary. That’s far more than the 350 opening filers two years ago.Anyone who was in line by 8 a.m. Monday gets a chance at being listed first on the ballot. I promise next election cycle I’ll be there and set up the night before. I’ll give away food to those in line and the press that shows up in the early morning hours. When the press ask why your there giving away food your reply should be something like this: “If these people are going to run and campaign for elected office I want to support them, and I don’t care if there Democrats, Republicans or Independents. Holding public office is a part of the American dream, just as owning a small business is a part of the American dream. I salute them and this is my way of offering my support”. You’ll come off as a patriot, and the press will wrap you in an American Flag. You may also end up catering some fund raisers but the press alone will net you some great PR. So what do you think? You could call it Hillary's catering, advertize free food, when you serve them, charge the heck out of them, tell them you changed your mind!

Sure go for it. Maybe its time to add Demarcate BBQ Sauce, Republican BBQ Sauce, and Independent BBQ Sauce. Of course your choice of barbecue meet maybe controversial, Do you BBQ donkey or elephant? RJF

And I hope it was posted tongue in cheek. Because it added nothing to the thread. I’m a staunch conservative-independent but it does not matter whom I vote for it’s a chance for anyone that is in the mobile food business to get a ton of free press. Or for that matter a stick or brick restaurant. That is why I posted the idea. I also admitted I didn’t think about it until I had read the headlines, so I didn’t get to take advantage of the situation, but will next election cycle. I promise it’s a great idea and hopefully others will read it and apply it to other areas, or local events that may be happening in their city or town. Jack

Your idea sounds good. The rest of my post was tongue in cheek. I was referring to the party selection of BBQ. Either Donkey *Republican* or Demarcate *Elephant*. Politics is loaded with choices and taking sides, I was attempting to parallel your food idea. RJF
