Great Soup After Dental Surgery?

My mother just had all of her bottom teeth removed on Monday, and I would like to make her a homemade soup. She has her heart set on Black Bean soup since it's not real chunky and doesn't require a lot of chewing, but I would love other great soups which people without teeth or after surgery can eat. Your fave black bean soup recipes are also requested--I made a great one 2 yrs ago, but cannot find the recipe again, and it's killing me. Please help! I love making soup, but my favies (minestrone, pizza and pasta fagioli) are all a bit too chunky until next week.

Thanks for any and all suggestions and/or recipes!

My MIL had her jaws wired after TMJ surgery (she tells everyone and anyone-"Don't do it"!) and for 3 months she ate everything whipped up to a babyfood consistancy using an Osterizer. Even thinned down pizza!

She can eat any of your good soups as long as you put them in the blender. All the flavor, none of the aggravation!

My sister in law had her jaw wired shut for awhile and enjoyed cream of broccoli soup. She just made sure her broccoli was cut smaller so it broke down easier when cooking.

    Original recipe yield: 6 servings

    INGREDIENTS
    2 tablespoons margarine
    1 onion, chopped
    1 stalk celery, chopped
    3 cups chicken broth
    8 cups broccoli florets
    3 tablespoons margarine
    3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    2 cups milk
    ground black pepper to taste

    DIRECTIONS
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in medium sized stock pot, and saute onion and celery until tender.
Add broccoli and broth, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Puree soup and return to heat.
In small saucepan, over medium-heat melt 3 tablespoons butter, stir in flour and add milk. Stir until thick and bubbly, and add to soup. Season with pepper and serve.

This is the recipe she used...

Thanks everyone! I ended up making a vegetarian black bean soup I found online using mostly mashed black beans, and it was a HUGE hit! I've never made black bean soup without ham hocks, bacon or some kind of meat, and this had so much flavor none of us could get enough. Add cornbread with honey butter and omg, I'm making it again, lol!

Thanks for the broccoli soup recipe, I've never made it, but my ex husband makes it for our 11 yr old son (who loves it) and his step-siblings, and that sounds like an easy way to begin.
