We just tried Digorno's Focaccia style & it wasn't bad. The focaccia dough takes to freezing & then baking pretty well. We just throw some slices of Boar's Head Bianco D'oro salami on top for a quick meal.

Waartoad; you gotta fry them first. Like you I prefer Redondo's brand. If you don't fry and drain you'll end up with a puddle of oil on top. Not that that is bad, but it sure makes for sloppy eating. Shaka Brah. BKK

I actually purchased and tried Mystic Pizza's frozen cheese pizza last week. It recently came to a local grocery store for $3.25 a pie, which is less than Red Baron, lol. I got a cheese, and doctored it up with my pepperoni, some extra virgin olive oil and freshly grated parmigiano reggiano, and it was pretty darn good. Not great, but very good. Good crisp crust, flavorful sauce, the cheese was ok, but I think the pepperoni, oil and parm gave it that extra oomph.

And let me add, I grew up in the New Haven area, and while I love that style & quality pizza, I grew up with an agoraphobic mother who didn't drive, and a father who didn't like pizza more than 1-2x a year. So......I got a lot of Red Baron and Chef Boy R Dee growing up, lol.....and I still enjoy both. IMO even bad pizza is pizza, and therefore better than no pizza...and since I'm a night owl, getting great restaurant pizza every time I have a craving is impossible. I will have to try Palmeros one of these days, the local Wegmans carries it at a lower price than the other grocery stores in my area.

We've been to Mystic Pizza and found the pizza terrible...even my kids, who unlike dad, are NOT "Great" pizza snobs, hated it...when Mystic frozen pizza came to Costco,we were silly enough to try it...worse than the stuff given to us in Mystic....I have never had a "Great" frozen pizza...I doubt the word "great" and "frozen pizza" can ever fit together!!!!!

Freschetta pizzas really are great frozen pizzas. This coming from someone who lives in New Haven County, CT. Freschettas can even rival some of the local Mom and Pop pizzarias. Not all, mind, but some.

I was never big on frozen pizza until I tried the Kashi brand. It is wonderful. I actually love the thin tomato and garlic with basil. It is delicious and very healthy. That is the only frozen pizza I buy now. I have tried about 5 different varieties of the Kashi pizza and they are all excellent. I think you will agree.

I always enjoyed Celentano's frozen pizza,I see some of their other frozen foods in the market, I hope they reconsider and start making their pizza again. In Bj's wholesale stores I like the Sbarro's brand
pizza, it is a personal pan size, pretty good for the price.

Flatbread pizza out of the Boston area is very good. I know that you can get it at Shaws north of Boston.

I ,too like Home Run pizza as mentioned in earlier posts.Their crust is good for a frozen pizza, and the taste of the pizza is very good.Stricken detective mentioned their cheese, sausage and mushroom pizza, which they no longer have available frozen.A real shame as it was one of their best!

I have tried the Home Run Inn frozen pizzas. They are good for frozen pizza, but too bland for my taste. The best frozen pizzas I ever had were the original Tombstone pizzas from Medford, WI. The recipe was sold to Kraft and they've butchered the product, but if you are lucky enough to live in the dairy state, you can find the original product under a new name, Pep's. Check it out:

Well, i have found the frozen pizzas from Dr. Oetker to be quite good and tasty. The crust is crisp and the ingredients on top are natural and good quality.

MMMM..it is supposed to serve four, but frankly can make a good meal with a salad at the side.

                                  Tombstone with chesse.

Sometime I add green peppers, black olives, olive oil, Italian seasoning and fresly grated cheese. Sometimes I fix it as I get it,

Usually have Tombstone, although I consider it worse than Dominos. Had a pepperoni pie a few days ago. I should have driven the mile and a half to Enzos Pizza.

I just picked up a new Newman's Own frozen with nitrate-free pepperoni; haven't tried it yet, but I like many of their products.

I just tried a Dr. Oetker pizza discussed by the Canadian members in the Generosa Ristorante variety. They just became available in the northeast US in the Ahold stores, Weis, ShopRite, Price Chopper, Shaw's, Hannaford, and Roche Bros. Might only be a market test at this point. Here is the funny part: they are made in Germany. The box reads 'Italy's No. 1 Pizza Brand'.  The pizza has a thin crust, light and crisp, with pepperoni, red green and yellow bell peppers, and red onions. The vegetables seem to have been sauteed at the plant. The version sold in the US is different from the version in Canada. I happen to like thin crust (1/8") pizzas, and this is one of the best frozen pizzas I have ever had.

A little research indicates that this company Americans know for baking and dessert products is Europe's leading frozen pizza brand. The sell variations of the Ristorante pizzas all over Europe, tailoring the toppings for local tastes.

I was curious about their claim being the #1 frozen pizza in Italy. Well, they trade under the brand name Cameo there:
                                        http://www.cameo.it/
They probably are, but they don't say how many pizzas a year they sell in Italy. This I find hysterical: in Italy, as well as many other European countries, they sell 'Big Americans'. Americn-style frozen pizza!

I find it fascinating to be able to taste a German frozen food item here in the US, especially when the sauce and the toppings used are probably the same as used on products destined for various European countries.

Red Baron makes a Mexican style pizza that is a tasty snack. I just add some grated colby jack cheese and nacho sliced jalapenos.

I'm just speaking from decades of experience. I've tried almost every brand, and while I've found a couple that were decent ( Home Run Inn comes to mind ), I've never found one that could be called "great".

Great frozen pizza? Ain't no such critter.

You've got that right, Bob!  There may be a place for it for families on a tight budget, though.  I know that me and the other 10-year-old kids in the neighborhood thought it was just fine back in 1965.

Sooo yall have tried Mexican Pizza??? I know, it's not REAL pizza but...

For regular pizza, the right mixture of chopped onion, bell pepper, green and black olives, Italian tomato sauce, olive oil, garlic, mozz and parm cheese, and some Italian meats, added to a decent brand of frozen cheese pizza... may not be great but is better than almost any pizza sold in Texas. There are some tricks to heating it though.

OK Don, we can use those oversized flour tortillas instead of the frozen pizza. They work just fine. :~)
