A place in Skokie called Barnum and Bagel's (on Dempster, just east of U.S. 41/Skokie Road) has a wonderful concoction they called the "kit and kaboodle." Many years ago, when the place had sort of a cat motif, it was the "kitten kaboodle"...this soup is heavenly, it's a large bowl of matzo ball soup with addition of white rice, kashi, a kreplach, and noodles. Best soup of any kind that I've ever had. Often I'll stop there on the rare occasion I'm in the area, and just order two kit-and-kaboodles...that's my meal! This also comes with a basket of homemade breadsticks which are awesome. Other meals are good, too. It costs about $9 or $10 for these two very filling bowls of soup. I think that entrees are generally $10 to $15.
