Green Chile Burgers Wed, 09/21/05 5:36 PM (permalink)
I have seen some photos here of green chile burgers that look fantastic. Does anyone have a recipe for the green chile sauce that goes on these? Can't find one in Seattle.

thanks

Is it just plain sliced Chiles? I thought it looked almost like a salsa verde. Or maybe just canned pickled chiles???

The best I'd ever had was a burger with a grilled hunk of roasted green chili on an onion roll ... (Greasewood Flat, North Scottsdale.)

Not that I know of. Maybe at Cactus?

But, what I'd do, if I were you, is go to Uwajimaya and get some of their frozen Kobe-style beef patties, head to Pike's and go to Sisters Bakery (in the morning to be safe) and get a nice fresh onion roll (and a fresh pretzel to hold you over) , go to Sousio's Produce and get some nice green chilis (or if it is Saturday, there is usually as guy from Yakima selling nothing but chilis -- either way Sousio's will tell you where the best chilis in the market are on any given day) ... while you are there, get some onion, heirloom tomatos, fresh green lettuce and whatever else you'd go for.

Go home roast and peel your peppers, cook the burgers up just past rare but nice and crispy on the outside, add some mayo (or spicy mayo) and enjoy with some chips and a homemade salsa (Sousio's).

Margarita: 3 parts good tequila, 2 parts triplesec, 1 part Roses Lime Juice, mixed up good with lots of ice and with about 4 small limes sqeezed in.

Now that you've got me thinking about it, I'll probably be following in your footsteps.

Do it at home---get some nice freash green chilis and roast them on the grill---peel seed and top your burgers with them and cheese and stick em under the broiler!! If you can get some of those mexican pan that are use for tortas--they are perfect to go with them! I like to add cumino to the meat before cooking them too--and garlic!
