Absolutely. If only green tea itself taste that good. I get green tea ice cream wherever I come across it, which unfortunately isn't often enough. Chinatown Ice Cream Factory in NYC is one place that comes to mind. I also see it in some Japanese and Thai restaurants. If you've ever been to Japan, you know that it's widely offered there, along with green tea candy, gum, cookies, etc.

I had green tea ice cream at Oxford's premiere independent ice cream parlour/milk bar, G and Ds and I wasn't impressed--it tasted a bit weird...

We love Green Tea Ice Cream as the finale to a sushi meal. There is something very refreshing and palate-cleansing about that slightly bitter, not overly sweet taste.

Green tea ice cream is the greatest! Especially if you can find it dipped in temura batter and deep-fried. Pure heaven.

I thought mochi was a sweet grain based sticky sweet.

Green tea can come in a pint or quart just like other ice creams, or it is one of the fillings used in Mochi, kind of a Japanese bon-bon with a covering made out of a glutinous rice "dough"..

Just tried green tea ice cream for the first time last week. As they say in Japanese, it was "oishi" (delicious).

Love it. I always get it when I go to a Japanese restaurant or sushi bar. Discovered it when I lived in the bay area but found I can get here in Indiana too. Like another poster said, " if only green tea tasted this good".

The perfect complement to green tea ice cream is red beans. For the creoles among us, this refers to sweet soy beans, so hold on. Red bean paste also makes an excellent filling for mochi, especially when there are sesame seeds on the outside. I had this combo for dessert at a dim sum place on Monday. It's always good, and when it's warm, it's heaven! Unfortunately, it can ruin one's appetite for Chinatown Ice Cream Company, which is a distinct bummer. jpat: Green tea ice cream is also widely available in Korean and Japanese communities. If you're near NYC, e-mail me and I'll fill you in.
