RE: Guilt About Shrimp Peeling

I have never heard a lobster scream...Atlantic or Pacific. It is the steam, as they have said. I do feel weird about cracking and peeling things, but they taste so god I get over my guilt. Especially when I pick them out of a tank, I fell like I am playing God. Maybe you need something easier to peel. Crawfish slip right out of their shells with one "break" of the tail. Shrimp have to be broken, snap, snap, snap, all the way down. Their shells are sharp and the legs are bug-like. I have found there are certain people who take pride in getting that last bit of meat out, and will happily peel seafodd for the others. You should look for a friend like this. Luckily my sister-in-law is a danger to all crustaceans.

Oh, and I still have trouble cutting up a chicken. The noise the bones make freaks me out. I can use a cleaver, like "THWAK" but that sawing, slow cracking of a knife...my mom used to say, "You wouldn't last a minute on the farm."
